New Climbing Frame

The new climbing frame on the Green is complete. There is still fencing up while the cement around it sets fully. The fencing should be removed in the next few days.

New Climbing Frame!

On Monday the new climbing frame will be installed on the green. It will be located between the tree with the seats and the existing row of swings. An artists impression of the installation can be seen here. Please note note that differs slightly from what will be installed. All of the features are the same but it is being installed in an “L” shaped configuration to tuck around the tree. This will maintain sight lines along the green and access for the funfair at Wakes.

Most of the current equipment was installed over fifteen years ago so an update with scope for more imaginative play has been well overdue. The equipment chosen was based on ideas provided by children at the school.

The Parish Council has been able to purchase the new climbing Frame with assistance from the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund (via the Derbyshire Environmental Trust) and the Derbyshire Dales Local Project Fund.

Tonight will be the last Friday football until the back end of the summer holidays. James and I are going to take a short break from football and recharge our batteries.

Can everyone be aware that due to the amazing weather we have recently had, the lines around the football pitch have dried, cracked and opened up. These cracks present a trip hazard to people using the pitch or walking across the area.  I have discussed the matter with the council and have experimented using sand to fill in the cracks, but we are not sure how successful this will be. The issue will be discussed at the next council meeting to see what options we can consider (all suggestions welcome).

Please be reminded that children (and adults) play on the football pitch at their own risk. I will remind the children of these potential hazards before we start.

Kind regards

Jason

We have received the following from the Parish Council

At the least Parish Council meeting the purchase of a new climbing frame was approved and the order has been placed.

During Wakes week it was brought to the Council’s attention that the proposed location affected the access to parts of the green for funfair rides this year.

The proposed location provided ample width to pass between the climbing frame and the brook. However the operators of the funfair were concerned that this route might be over ground which sloped too much for their vehicles to pass safely.

The suppliers of the climbing frame have very kindly offered an alternative layout which would overcome this problem. The play elements incorporated in the modular design of the climbing frame are exactly the same.

In order that the Council can formally choose one of the layouts, or consider other ideas, an extraordinary meeting will be held on the green at 7:30 on Thursday 12th July.

As with all Parish Council meetings members of the public are welcome.

Further information is available by using these links.

Help Needed

Friday football update
Hi all
I just wanted to update the village on where we are up to with Friday football and request your help.
Friday football continues to go very well. Each week we probably have 20+ children come… most of which are older children, however we have around 4-6 children under 7 years these children are a little small and too young to join the larger children for the main game and therefore they play their own game.
In terms of current support it’s just myself and James Farrar. My current work commitments mean that I am not available every week and rely very heavily on James. Without James’s dedication to the Friday football their would be no Friday football. Also note James has the necessary CRB checks to allow him to work with children.

Our club finances are good… we continue to be very careful how we spend your/our money, the main costs are new balls damaged by the hawthorns located behind the goals.

We will probably take a couple of weeks break over the summer holiday period to recharge our batteries we will post this on the blog nearer the time.

YOUR HELP
As stated above the Friday Football is currently James and myself… we desperately need additional helpers. These people do not need to have any football skills at all! They would be there to watch over and support the young children… ideally this should be the parents of the young children, but we would like others to help James or myself especially when one of us are unavailable. Our main interest is to safe guard the children and ensure they have a good time (and get them off their PlayStations!!!).
Our commitment and dedication to the Friday football hasn’t changed but we do need more help. If we are unable to get this extra help then we may need to restrict Friday football to the older children only, this is not something we would like to do.

Finally I take this opportunity to thank James for his continued time, dedication and support to the Friday football group…..

If you think you can help please get in touch…. thank you
Jason J

Friday Football

Friday football would like to thank Parwich Independent Welfare Fund for their kind donation and generosity to the Friday football.

Due to the impending weather we will have to cancel Friday football this week. I think it would be more like ice skating
Thanks

60 apprenticeships vacancies

Apprenticeships for more than 60 young people are on offer.

The apprenticeships are in:
health and social care − providing care for people in our older people’s homes − 39 vacancies
adult care catering − helping to provide meals for people in our older people’s homes − 16 vacancies
business administration − five vacancies.
Our Cabinet Member for Council Services, Councillor Angelique Foster, said:
“Apprenticeships are a great way for a young person to get a start on the career ladder and I’m delighted that we have so many opportunities available.
“With an apprenticeship at the council you can earn while you learn, receive on-the-job training and gain a qualification that employers really value.
“By joining one of the county’s largest employers you’ll gain vital knowledge that will be valued by employers in all sectors. And by working with our experienced employers you will also gain valuable skills.”
We will accept applications from anyone aged over 16, either school leavers or those looking to train in something new. Previous applicants need not apply.
The closing date for applications is 10 September 2017. Find out more about our apprenticeships
