This stunning film is tipped to be Film of the Year. Starring the wonderful Ralph Fiennes as Cardinal Lawrence, a character who is tasked with running this covert selection process after the unexpected death of a beloved Pope. Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence uncovers a trail of deep secrets left in the dead Pope’s wake–secrets which could shake the foundations of the Church
.
Guardian review ***** Fiennes gives one of the performances of the year as a cardinal assailed on all sides in Edward Berger’s elegant adaptation of Robert Harris’s Vatican

Starting next week on Monday 3rd February, Derbyshire Dales District Council is launching a new free weekly collection service for Small Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). Residents can now easily recycle small WEEE items such as old toasters, kettles, hairdryers, and other electrical devices that require a plug or battery. Please place small WEEE items, loose, by the side of your bins/sacks/caddies by 7am on your weekly waste collection day. These items will then be collected by our food collection vehicles, which have cages fitted to the underside. Find out which items you can leave out.

30 minutes free in Derbyshire Dales town centre car parks
A progressive new measure allowing vehicles to park for up to 30 minutes free in Derbyshire Dales District Council’s town centre car parks will come into operation from 1 April.
For Dales residents, this comes on top of free parking with their resident permit in all of the District Council’s car parks before 11am and after 3pm every day of the year.
The 30 minutes free quick-stay – which cannot be added to a longer period in the same car park – will apply in Ashbourne to Shawcroft, the Bus Station and Clifton Road, in Bakewell to Granby Road and the Market Place, in Matlock to Imperial Road (M&S), Lido, Olde Englishe, Spa Villas and Town Hall front and in Wirksworth to the Market Place.

From February 6, the Market Place in Ashbourne will no longer be a car park, as works get under way for the UK Government funded Ashbourne Reborn programme. The highways and public realm project, led by Derbyshire County Council, will transform the historic centre of the town, with wider pavements, pedestrian crossings and improved public spaces. The changes will celebrate the town’s heritage while enabling a wide variety of future events to bring new life to the centre of town.

Alternative car parks are available at the Cattle Market, Cokayne Avenue, Shawcroft, the Bus Station, Swimming Pool, and Clifton Road. Although part of Fishpond Meadow is currently being used as a temporary compound for contractors delivering the Highways and Public Realm project, at the end of the scheme the site is due to be returned to Derbyshire Dales District Council for future use as overspill car parking.

The family of Paul Cooper would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support and kindness during such a very difficult time.
The generous donations given at the church, sent in cards and give to H. Lee and Sons came to £1,100, giving the Parwich First Responders and the Heart Foundation £550 each.
x Paul always found a way to laugh in the hardest of times x

A polite request to ask dog walkers to stop leaving their dog poo, bagged or otherwise, on Dodds Hill. There’s been a noticable increase over the last couple of weeks and this will continue to be monitored.
Dodds Hill isn’t just a footpath, it’s where the village children play – to them it’s an army base, a fairy castle, even a climbing frame – don’t be the person that ruins this!
