Thank you!

I think last night’s Harvest Festival ‘Auction of Produce’ at the Legion was quite possibly the best one yet, and we raised
£500
for the Parwich Independent Welfare Fund!!!

So, a huge thank you to everyone who supported and participated, in particular:

  • all of those who very generously , cooked, baked, brought in produce, made up hampers and donated their time and money;
  • Evie for the very generous donation of her lovely painting;
  • Judith for stepping in with the reading;
  • Paul C for hosting the evening and running the auction;
  • everyone who bought produce (of course!); and
  • everyone who attended and made it such a good evening.

Hope I’ve not forgotten anyone – if so it is definitely not intentional……!

Many thanks once more,
Emma (on behalf of the Parwich Independent Welfare Fund)

Parwich commemorated the centenary of the start of World War I, perhaps the darkest four years of the twentieth century, with an exhibition, a talk and a moving service at the War Memorial.

image

Some 80 Parwich men served in the Arm Forces during WWI, the Exhibition included details and photographs of some of those that the History Society and Parwich Legion have managed to identify from local knowledge and newspapers of the time. More need to identified, so if you know of anyone who served, have any stories or have photographs do get in touch.

Legion Tidy Day

We have received the following from Carl:

THANK YOU!

A big thank you goes to the following who gave up their Sunday afternoon to help with the Legion “make-over” this weekend.

The benches, gate, window frames etc. all look great now they have been painted, the smoking annexe has received a well-deserved bath, the garden has been nicely planted, gutters cleaned and all the weeds removed.

The interior was also given some attention including general repairs, spring cleaning and the hanging of 2 new picture frames which have been filled with photographs of villagers past and present.

All the troops were treated to a fantastic BBQ once all the work was completed – which Emma and Rob kindly prepared.

Thanks to Bill Whitfield for the planters and hanging baskets and the plants that were donated, they look amazing. Thanks also to Judith and Charles for the loan of their tap.

The team:

Ian and Sandra, Cheryl and Bob, Phil and Rosie, Alison and Shaun, Jimmy and Karen, Emma and Rob, Lee and Danni, Rich, Pete, Ed, Lucy and Rachel.

Thanks again.

Carl
