Based on the book War Horse, this exciting film is set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War. It begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets – British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter – before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land. A surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady, the first and only female Prime Minister of  The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century’s most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.  Meryl Streep won an Oscar for her wonderful acting in the film.  Click here for a review.

Based on the book, My Week with Marilyn,  this hugely entertaining film tells of how a young but confident assistant director, Colin Clark, met Marilyn Monroe while working on Laurence Olivier’s “The Prince and the Showgirl.” When Marilyn experienced emotional difficulties during shooting, the 23-year-old came to her aid and romance developed.  But one week of honesty and fun was not enough to save the doomed star from self-destruction. Many years later he wrote  Starring Michelle Williams, Emma Watson, Kenneth Branagh, Dame Judi Dench, Dominic Cooper and Derek Jacobi.
