This weekend’s rate is £0.5040 ppl* for the Parwich, Tissington & Bradbourne Heating Oil Club
With the White House postponing tariff decision-making deadlines to August and the attack on shipping by the Houthi, oil prices have once again edged up to over $70 a barrel today.
There is a fire that was lit yesterday in the field to the right of White Park, Alsop Road. It is still smouldering. In this hot weather, I hope it is out completely.
Do you know what your Parish Council does for the village?
Maybe you think that the Council should have done more, less or something differently.
Even if you thought it was just right – Somebody had to do it!
Good, bad or indifferent, the Council only does anything because there are village residents willing to take a turn at being councillors.
Without them the village would lose control of it’s income and expenditure. This would leave responsibility for things such as Parsons Croft, the Village Playgrounds and the Village Greens with Derbyshire Dales District Council or Derbyshire County Council.
There are currently two vacancies on the Parish Council so we need more councillors.

WE MADE IT 🎉🎉. Wakes 2025 you have been awesome. What a week in the sun! It’s been action packed and we are completely exhausted but happy to meet so many friends old and new. We are a truly special village, with some special people and we need to try and maintain that as long as possible.
Wakes would not be possible without the help and support from so many volunteers (Roger, Roy and David to name just a few!), the Carnival and Recreation Committee, the Oddfellows, Kirsty, Jane,Tom and the Sycamore Team and everyone at the Legion. So from me to you thank you. It’s time for a rest now but we will be back in 2026.
Signing off for now with a few of my favourite pictures (credit to Phil Cooke for some of them)….
Starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbaender, this film, rated one of the best of 2025, invites audiences into a world full of secrets and intrigue as a British Intelligence officer races to find the traitor in his organization. When intelligence agent Kathryn Woodhouse is suspected of betraying the nation, her husband – also a legendary agent – faces the ultimate test of whether to be loyal to his marriage, or his country.
Parwich Chapel are celebrating their Anniversary this Sunday 6th July, 2.30pm at St. Peters Church. The Preacher will be Mr Jim Titterton formerly of Tissington.
We hope that you will be able to join us for the service and stay afterwards for tea and cakes.

The whole county, including Derby City, is about to embark on its most significant local government restructure in half a century.
The ten existing councils in the area – including Derbyshire Dales District Council – will become two new unitary authorities by April 2028.
There are going to be lots of changes, but, before any of that, your views are needed. An online public consultation is open until 10 August and takes just a few minutes to complete at bit.ly/Derbyshire-consultation
Our fabulously talented local painter has hidden a series of special Parwich Wakes themed pebbles around the village. Keep your eyes peeled, and please send in any pictures of your finds.
