My three pooches were all born in the deserts of Dubai and they’ve only seen snow a couple of times. Looks like they are happy to switch sand for the cold stuff!

January Parwich Film Show

LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP
This is a beautiful adaptation of Jane Austen’s novella, Lady Susan, filmed on location in Ireland. With beautiful costumes and fine interiors it is a gem of a film.
Set in the 1790s, Love and Friendship centres on beautiful widow Lady Susan Vernon, who has taken up temporary residence at the estate of her in-laws to wait out colourful rumours about her dalliances circulating through polite society. Whilst there, while there, is determined to be a matchmaker for her daughter Frederica — and herself too, naturally.
Starring Kate Beckinsale, Stephen Fry
“Love & Friendship is an unexpected delight, a tremendously witty adaptation of a little known Jane Austen novella. The film boasts surely the finest performance in Kate Beckinsale’s screen career” Independent
Love & Friendship shows just how funny Jane Austen can be -**** Telegraph
“What audacity, what elegance! Here is a hilariously self-aware period comedy polished to a brilliant sheen
Love & Friendship somehow feels like an undiscovered Oscar Wilde play. Guardian
FRIDAY 13th January 7.45PM

Yesterdays high winds took its toll across the county and Parwich was no exception, a dead tree was blown down in the Church Yard, fortunately it fell in line with the brook course and did not bring down the retaining wall into the brook. But if using the footpath you would need to be careful as the branches are protruding onto the footpath.
Also another large branch has been blown down onto the footpath from the horse Chestnut tree and is on the footpath, please be careful especially in the darkTerry P

The next ‘Live& Local’ Event is on Friday the 27th January and is described as….
‘A fast moving, delightfully bonkers comedy cabaret tribute to local radio, packed with outrageously funny media mockery (and some superb slapstick). With the audience playfully invited to join the action – live sound effects, taste test vox pops and ‘on-air’ phone-in blather – this smart spoof is a sparkling crowd pleaser.’

Has anyone else got a problem with water discolouration? I have spoken to Severn Trent who have said a few of there customers in this area have reported the same thing, they have advised to run the water for 20 minutes to see if this clears the problem. Louise B

I have for some time being having trouble with my telephone line crackling, despite the Open Reach engineer having been out several times the problem persists. I would just like to know if anyone else is having the same trouble and whether or not their is an inherent fault at the Exchange or whether it could be the copper wire system that runs to the exchange from this side of the village. Free Christmas tree recycling in the Dales
From 9 January Derbyshire Dales District Council will be helping local people recycle their real Christmas trees.
All residents have to do is place the tree at the edge of their property on their usual green/recycling day collection and the tree will be composted along with other garden materials.
Any tree over 5ft in length must be broken/sawn down to a manageable size, with decorations and plant pots removed. Alternatively, trees can be taken to the nearest household waste recycling centre.
Plain Christmas cards and wrapping paper can be included in residents’ kerbside cardboard and paper recycling to be collected by the District Council’s contractor Serco. Foil-backed and glittery cards and paper should not be included, but placed in general household waste grey bins or black sacks.
