We had our first practice session on Monday night. A new lady member came down to have a try. Very good too. We also had two young men ( aged 11 and 10 ) who also played a number of ‘ends’ A good evening all round.

Our first league match takes place this Thursday at home. As was mentioned in the earlier comment, it is against Bradwell. The match starts at 1.45pm and usually finishes at about 4.15/4.30pm.

If you have the time on Thursday afternoon, why not come to the green and have a look? You may even get a nice cup of tea or coffee.

A very special visit.

UPDATE: We hope you enjoyed this April Fool’s post. Needless to say, not a word of it is true!

PARWICH.ORG is delighted to announce some very exciting news for the village. The Prince William and his new wife, Catherine, are planning to spend some time in Parwich as part of their honeymoon tour of the UK. Although the exact date is still being kept as a strict state secret, we can confirm that they will be staying at Tom’s Barn for two nights in the spring.

In order to provide the happy couple with maximum privacy during their stay, residents of Monsdale Lane will be asked to vacate their homes for the duration of the royal visit. However, special four-poster camp beds will be provided in the Memorial Hall for all those affected.

To mark the event, a “red white and blue” Royal Wedding tulip has been specially bred and bulbs have already been secretly planted along Monsdale Lane. Fingers crossed that they will be at their peak, to coincide with the royal visit.

Additionally, some of the village twitchers have been secretly training our small population of Jenkins Thrushes to incorporate parts of the National Anthem into their song.

The A52s Play The Legion Tonight!

The A52s would be delighted to play for you this evening , Saturday 19th March, in The Parwich Legion. The set will start around 8.30pm.

The band will be adding a slight irish tinge to their normal blend of folk and acoustic rock in honour of St. Patrick’s Day….or maybe to ease the pain of the defeat Ireland will surely receive at the hands of the England Rugby Team today!

Everyone is welcome! Admission free!

Two great trips

Wednesday 25th May   –  RHS Harlow Carr   –  departure 9am

Harlow Carr is the Royal Horticultural Society’s northern garden. Rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias should be a highlight at this time of year. As well as the extensive gardens there is a shop and plant centre and Betty’s Café tea rooms.

We can offer this trip to society members at the bargain price of £8!  Entry is free, as the society is affiliated to the RHS.  There will be an additional charge of £2 for those wishing to have a tour.  Non members can either join the society at a cost of £2 or pay the entry fee of £7.50 ( free to RHS members).

Wednesday 13th July  – Felley Priory and Hebb’s Farmhouse  – departure 9.30am

In the morning we will visit Felley Priory Gardens in Nottinghamshire (left) a private garden and plant nursery.  We will have lunch there and then there is a short drive to Hebb’s farmhouse, Stuart Dixon’s garden.  Stuart gave a talk to the society in 2009 and he will show us round his garden; followed by tea and scones (included in the price). £3 entrance to each garden, although Felley Priory is free to individuals who are RHS members

The cost for this trip is £10 including tea and scones at Hebb’s Farmhouse. Members of the RHS can get into Felley Priory for free and the cost to them is £7.00.

In order to keep transport costs to a minimum we will be making up numbers with non society members; as members will have priority we are asking them to pay a deposit of £5 per person for each trip by 31st March to secure a place.

Please let Rebecca Jordan, Knob Hall, have your payments.  These details and forms have been delivered to all society members.
