Thank you to Graham J for this report of an intrepid group of local cyclists in South Africa:
A few weeks ago, 4 intrepid Parwich cyclists crossed the equator to meet up in glorious Cape Town and take part in the World’s biggest cycle race – the “Cape Argus”. After having trained through the depths of a Peak District winter, it was pure joy to be transported into high summer overnight, with the prospect of a legendary bike race to boot!

Congratulations to Dan Naylor for scoring the Up’ards goal at Shrovetide yesterday. The ball was goaled at 7.13pm after an exiting day’s play. The Ashbourne News Telegraph features some great photos and detailed reports.

If you’re anywhere in the region of Ashbourne, why not come to Sit and Sew with Mandy and me every second and fourth Friday of the month – 10am til midday. Bring along hand sewing and Mandy will be bringing Xmas project kits too if you’re interested. We’ll sit, sew, chat, drink coffee, eat cake and generally put the world to rights. Thank you Helen for forwarding this update. There is usually a good sized Parwich contingent going to the Dovedale Dash, so many will be sad to hear the event is cancelled this year:

We regret that we have had to cancel the Dash this year. The Pastures where we normally park 400-500 cars is waterlogged and not getting any better. The forecast for the weekend is for further rain and strong winds. Our regrets for the cancellation. We put off making a decision until the last moment in the hope of an improvement in the weather.
The next Dash is November 2nd 2014.

At Cromford Wharf Yesterday. The canal boat was all ready to go, but the nesting coot in the middle of the boat’s turning circle prevented the boat from going more than a few yards down the canal. Attached a few shots to show the flavour of the place. John FS
Today and Bank Holiday Monday are good days to visit as the nearby Leawood Pumping Engine will be under full steam.

The last 18 months has seen record levels of page hits here at parwich.org, but we can not be complacent.
The above map shows where in the World people are looking at the Blog. It is heartening that we are no longer proscribed in China and we might be big in Vanuatu and the Northern Mariana Islands, however it is extremely worrying that no one in Greenland, Svalbard, Cuba, Haiti, Turkmenistan, Somalia, Madagascar, Mozambique and much of west and central Africa has visited parwich.org.
