This month’s Waitrose Charity

Thank you Helen for pointing out that putting our green tokens in the box for Brassington Brownies will help Parwich girls:

Please help Brassington Brownies.

This is the Brownie pack attended by girls from Parwich.
Each month Waitrose donate £1000 to be shared by 3 local groups. How much money each group receives is determined by the number of green tokens deposited by customers. During August, Brassington Brownies is one of the 3 choices and it would be great if you could support them.

What a fantastic Wakes Week. A big thank you to the Carnival & Recreation Committee, the Oddfellows, the Legion, the Sycamore and everyone who works so hard every year to make it such a success. (And the weather was OK too!)

With all the great photos and results that have been coming in, it can be hard to find all that has been posted at parwich.org, so here is a list of the 2013 posts (with links) in the order the events happened.

Also if you can fill any of the gaps in our reporting, please contact us via parwich@hotmail.co.uk.

An excellent evening, despite the unreliable weather, with an increased number of entrants in the Junior Race, and some excellent performances from local youngsters. There was a reduced number of runners in the main Senior Race, which was won by C Patterson in 18min 54sec, slower than his winning time last year (this was over a different course because of the very wet conditions), but faster by 5sec than the 2011 winning time over the same course.

CP2

The quickest home in the Junior Race was D Evans in 12min 32sec, faster than his winning time of 13min 12sec last year.

Thank you to Jane B for spotting this new musical phenomenon:

Four youngsters from Parwich could be the latest band to emerge from this small village, which already has a history of launching successful new musicians. The four, who still have to come up with a band name were heard to be practising on the corner of Croft Avenue and Creamery Lane, singing “We will, we will rock you”, using improvised instruments.

Eat your heart out Queen!
