First Responders

Parwich First Responders are continuing to recruit new members. Attached is some useful information about the role of a First Responder.

Who/What Are We?
Parwich First Responders have been providing emergency first aid cover to the village and surrounding areas for the past 12 years. First Responders are there to support life threatening conditions, including heart attack, asthma and loss of consciousness. They aim to maintain breathing and circulation until advanced life support is available.
We meet every 2 months in Parwich Memorial Hall to refresh our training in an informal and supportive atmosphere.

What Can You Do?
As a Responder you can offer as little or as much time as you like each week. Being on duty does not stop you getting on with normal activities providing you are around the village and in range of a phone.

Can Anyone Become a First Responder?
The training provided by East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) is thorough and gives you confidence to attend to and deal with a medical emergency such as a heart attack or breathing difficulties. You acquire good First Aid skills for your role of a First Responder . These skills you will find can be useful in everyday life.
Once you have received your training you are not expected to go out to calls on your own unless you choose to. Some of the experienced First Responders still choose to ‘buddy up’ with another First Responders for a duty period.

No previous experience is required you just need to be 18 years old but there is no upper age limit.

Please ring Sue 334 or Martin 529 if you are interested in becoming a First Responder or would to come to one of the informal training sessions to find out a bit more about the role.

Thank you party for Carl this Saturday!

Oil Price Lower

imageUpdate for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

With the forecast for another cold week ahead and snow in some areas, just a quick reminder to see if you have checked your oil level this week? A visual check is often worthwhile. During the winter months, I recommend ordering when you have around 6 to 7 weeks supply left in the tank. Deliveries are subject to weather and supply conditions so I urge you to order early and allow plenty of time for delivery to avoid any problems.

Please also note, due to a change in the legislation on credit cards, from the 13th January suppliers will no longer able to pass on the credit card fees they are charged by the card companies. Many are therefore advising they can only accept debit card payments.

We have secured a rate and our clubs group oil order terms for this weekend are as follows:

Rate:  £0.4480 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

B5056 Closure in February

Please find details of the proposed road closure for Bradbourne Road, Unnamed Section Of B5056 From Horsley Farm To White Meadows Farm Fenny Bentley, currently planned for 12th February for 3 weeks for resurfacing work. This is the stretch from the Tissington ford to the Bentley Brook.
You can view the order on this link https://roadworks.org?tm=104346292
For any queries please email traffic.trafregord@derbyshire.gov.uk, for the attention Elaine Coope or call 01629 538516

B5056 Closure

We have received the following from DDC:

Essential safety work on an Ashbourne road means three week closure

We’re carrying out extensive work on the B5056 between Bent Lane, Tissington Ford, and its junction with the A515 at Fenny Bentley from Monday 12 February 2018.

The closure will enable a two and a half mile stretch of the road to be patched. This is to make the road − which is prone to cracking because of its proximity to a landslip − safe.

The road is expected to reopen around Sunday 4 March 2018. During the closure the we will also carry out drainage and tree clearance works. And ground surveys will be undertaken to find a long-term solution to the historic landslip.

Councillor Simon Spencer, our cabinet member for highways, transport and infrastructure, said:

“Landslips are a long-standing issue on this road and periodically we have to carry out maintenance and repair work to keep the road useable.”

Councillor Spencer added:

“We appreciate that any road closure causes disruption but this is necessary work to keep the road safe. We will use the closure to carry out additional maintenance and reopen the road as soon as possible.”

Signposted diversions will be in place. The diversion from Ashbourne is along the A515 to Newhaven, along the A5012 Via Gellia to Grangemill, the B5056 to the point of the road closure and vice versa.

Church Lead Stolen

I have had to report to the police this morning (29th) that the north porch roof has been lead stripped overnight of its lead , the police want to know of any strange vehicles seen etc.
The crime reference us 18000045271 and ringing the police on 101 be useful .
The Marshalls are sheeting the roof at the moment .
So any helpful information would be useful .

Oil Price Steady as Pound Rises

imageUpdate for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

Crude seems to be holding around £70 a barrel however the pound has made good ground against the dollar passing 1.42 this week helping lower the cost of kerosene in many areas this week.

This time of year, I recommend ordering when you have around 6 to 7 weeks supply left in the tank. Deliveries will be subject to weather and supply conditions so I urge you to order early and allow plenty of time for delivery to avoid any problems. And again, please check your meter is showing a correct reading – maybe give it a reboot or better still dip the tank!

Rate:  £0.4650 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])
