As the pound surges to four-week high after High Court ruling raises hopes of ‘soft Brexit’ and Crude drops below $45 after a record weekly build in U.S. crude inventories stoked further worries about a global oil supply glut, we have seen a noticeable drop in the cost of kerosene this week. Suppliers are also busy so please order early and allow plenty of time for delivery.

Heating oil type: Kerosene (28 second) heating oil – Bulk
Order and pay by date: Orders with payment information submitted by 11.30 am Monday morning will be included with on this order.
(Orders after this time may not be included in this order- please check the order screen for an update)
Delivery time frame: Delivery within 10 working days from club order on Monday
(Delivery times for this time of year will be subject to adverse weather and supply conditions so please order early)
Debit card charge: The supplier does not charge for the use of a debit card.
Credit card charge: The supplier DOES charge 2% for the use of a credit card.
Special Notes: If you have an AGA or require premium fuel, please see the club shop for the exocet range of premium additives.

Friday Football Important Changes

Children’s Friday Football: Now that the nights have closed in on us, we are now having to play football on the hardcourt area under the spotlights. To avoid confusion we will maintain the newer times of 17.30hrs meet-up at the hard courts – 18.40hrs finish

This will mean some small changes for the children:

  • Please do not wear football boots.., trainers should now be worn.
  • The courts will be cleaned next week, but this week they may be a little slippery, take extra care (evening frosts may also make the courts slippery).
  • It would be better if the children wear tracksuit bottoms and gloves in case they fall over, this will also help keep them warmer.
  • Can you ensure your children bring a drink of water.
  • The Cricket Pavilion will be open for parents and children who don’t wish to play (or get too cold).
(does anyone have a spare fan heater that they don’t need any longer, that we could use at the Pavilion?)

We will continue with Friday Football into the winter months, for as long as possible, and whilst children wish to continue playing.

Football for Adults: This has been a bit of a slow burn, we are struggling to maintain enough regular players each week. We will STOP the adult football for now and perhaps relaunch in early 2017. Would a Tuesday night be any better?

Christmas Day Football – All Welcome!….. This has now become part of the Parwich tradition. For those who are not aware, for the last two years we have held a football match on Christmas Day. However, it feels more like a cross between rugby and football and is great fun!. We plan to do this again this year.  I will discuss with ‘Carl-os de Messi’ at the legion and post a further blog with times and venue. From my short memory, last year it ran from 11am-12ish on Christmas Day.

 Many thanks

Jason

Meet the Nearly New Neighbours!

andrew-ruthandrew-ruth-2

Andrew and Ruth Collie [Rowan Cottage] would like to thank everyone we have met for their warm welcome to Parwich. We moved from Kent on April27th and managed to get everything unpacked between snow showers! We have brought Jenny our dog and three hens with us. Our three children Mark, James and Thomas are all living and working elsewhere but have visited over the summer.

Meet More New Neighbours

viv__jon_micklefield

Viv and Jon Micklefield have recently moved into Gardeners Cottage (previously home to Sue and Alan Purvis). After taking the plunge to relocate from Surrey, they’d set their hearts on living in the Peak Park and can’t believe their luck to have discovered Parwich. Viv is a freelance feature writer and is already starting to explore the local area on foot, whilst Jon who works for the automobile industry will take to pedal power at any opportunity, up hill and down dale. They are both looking forward to becoming part of village life.

Wigber Low Talk

There is a talk this Wednesday 26th October at Queen Elizabeth Grammar Schhol about Wigber Low which may be of interest to Parwich locals as Wigber low is quite prominent on the road to Ashbourne and is close to the the old medieval track from Parwich to Ashbourne which went via Knivetonwood.
There is also a display at Ashbourne Library for the next two weeks with some of the objects found at Wigber Low together with a storyboard display.wigber-low-poster-final
