Northern Lights Tonight?

Sorry this is just a link to a link, but Buxton Weather Watch suggest there is a chance that the Northern Lights will be visible in the northern part of the Midlands tonight.

In the February meeting the Parish Council decided that the minutes of the parish council meetings will now only be placed in the village shop and on the Parish Council’s own Website (when it becomes available). The agendas of the parish council meetings will now only be placed in the village shop and on the parish council notice board.

The blog team is aware that a number of people rely on the internet to view the  minutes of the parish council meetings and, as the parish council website site is not yet available, we have photographed these documents. Unfortunately this means the quality of these documents is rather poor; however you can still read them. Please follow the links below to the agenda for tomorrow’s council meeting and the draft minutes from February’s meeting.

Parish Council Elections

Parwich Parish Council would like to advise about the forthcoming parish council elections in May 2015.

The nomination pack and set of forms are now available to view and download from Derbyshire Dales District Council’s site:

If you are eligible and interested in standing as a member of Parwich Parish Council in May 2015 then please follow the instructions found through the above site regarding the election process and deadlines. Please note applications must not be made to the clerk to Parwich Parish Council.

Parwich Parish Council should consist of 7 members council (to be quorate at meetings there must be at least three parish council members elected in May).

In just over a month the most exciting game on the planet will start a new season and you dear reader can be part of it. With no prior knowledge needed or indeed trips to the gym to get in shape (not a bad idea really) you too can participate in the cut and thrust of Crown Green bowling.

This cannot be I hear you cry. There has to be a catch or major expenses, but not a bit of it. All you need to do is to come down to Parsons Croft and start playing. It really is that simple. So shake off the drudgery of winter and welcome the coming of spring and get down there.

The Green at present is too wet but fingers crossed it will dry out soon. It would be really great to see some new faces and for others to enjoy one of the best Crown Greens in Derbyshire.

The new season starts the first week in April so not long to go.

What are you waiting for come and join us.

Found Cat

UPDATE – Ruby the Siamese cat is safely back at home after being found at Close Farm – thanks to Stuart and everyone who has helped to find her.

photo

Has anyone seen or heard (because she is very vocal) my Seal Point Siamese cat.  She had been missing since early this morning which is unusual as she doesn’t normally go far or for very long.   Please could you check any garages or out buildings in case she is trapped.

Thank you.

As a Team we were arguing when ‘Spring’ officially started. I said 1st of March and Fiona said the 21st of March. Steve pointed out that both were correct in that the 1st is the start of metrological spring, but the 21st, the equinox, is the start astronomically speaking.

Well, with warm weather forecast for this weekend, let’s hope that we all feel Spring has well and truly started. So why not get your cameras out and enter this photography competition:

Sunday Times Best Paces to Live

Yesterday’s Sunday Times lists Britain’s 50 “finest rural communities“, including Parwich. It says:

You know somewhere’s worth a good look when families move in and stay for decades. That’s what happens in Parwich, a welcoming village in the Peak District National Park, with old houses built in the pale local limestone amid the the bright green hills and dry-stone walls. It’s definitely rural – the nearest town is Ashbourne, seven miles away – and it does not attract many visitors in winter, but it is pretty enough for the residents not to mind. Heck, that’s what country life is about, isn’t it?

In summer, Parwich is on the tourist trail, a boost for the friendly local pub, the Sycamore, which has earned its place in the Good Pub Guide 2015. Locals and visitors sit outside at the picnic tables while kids and dogs run about on the grass; a cricket pitch, a tennis court and a bowling green offer further seasonal diversions. When they are not at the little school, children might be sent to the pub on their own. Don’t call the NSPCC – one of its rooms is the village shop.
