What a Wakes Week!!

Well what a week its been, the weather has been on our side and every event has been brilliantly supported. Everything from the traditional March, Carnival, Fair, Hill Race and Kid’s sports to the slightly less traditional Hungry Hippos and Bullseye I think we can all say we have definitely had a laugh and a smile along the way.

So it’s nearly time for the Carnival and Recreation Committee to sign off for a few weeks well deserved rest! But before we do THANK YOU to each and everyone of you. It takes a whole village to make these events successful and the Committee is only as good as all the helpers and supporters along the way so again THANK YOU.

Now enjoy the Strong Man today and see you all next year – put Saturday 1st July 2023 in your diary now 😁

Here are a few photos from Pete G from the last few days…

Wakes 22 so far….

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has participated and hopefully enjoyed Wakes so far. It’s been an awesome weekend and record numbers of people attending. It means a lot to us Parwich folk and the Carnival and Recreation Committee that this tradition continues and this spurs us on to keep going. A massive shout out to everyone that has helped, donated or just contributed to the weekend and the best news is there is still a full week of events to go. A special shout out to Notts DA for attending, we have missed Ian and his family but his legacy will carry on.

Hopefully see you all around for the rest of the week and I’ll be sharing some better quality photos later in the week (thanks to David G).

But in the meantime here are just a few of mine so I will simply sign off with a THANK YOU and long may Parwich Wakes continue. Now to get ready for the Treasure Hunt 😁

Wakes Market

We’ve a great mix of local businesses coming to the village market including stalls selling plants, pickles and chutneys, crystal coasters, knitted and crocheted goods and dog bandanas with matching scrunchies.

Not forgetting of course our Wakes regulars Margaret who is raising funds for Cheadle Animal Welfare Society and the school who will have their own fundraising tombola.

There are just a few pictures below to whet your appetite. Please do come along and support these local businesses whilst enjoying the festivities of the day.

Open Gardens- Captions Please!

Whilst we admire the beauty of the gardens on display during Open Gardens we don’t perhaps fully appreciate the effort and dedication that goes into the quest for perfection. We are indebted to David G who managed to catch this behind the scenes shot of one of our more athletic gardeners in his effort to get everything just in the correct position.
