Graham J writes:

Thanks to all those who helped on the PP5 night – we managed to raise £392, which will again go to Parwich Memorial Hall funds.

This year, the race itself raised £315 – which was a bit down on last year, due to a slightly reduced entry (were we competing with a small event in London?) – and we spent a bit more on trophies and prizes. Sandra and Fiona added a further £77 through their hard work on the raffle on the night.

Thanks again to all who helped and made it such a fun evening for both runners and spectators.

We had an excellent turnout for the Parwich Village Photograph taken at the Memorial Hall last Tuesday. The picture was taken slightly early to take advantage of a lucky lull in the rain.

Many thanks to all for putting up with the ‘arrangement’ of the group and also to John F-S for taking the picture.

You can click here to download a high resolution copy of this photograph. Click on the little picture that appears, then select ‘File’ and ‘Download’. The picture may take a short while to transfer to your computer.

You can also order a colour A4 print of the picture using this form. Photographs cost £1.50 each. The form must be received, together with a cheque, by Saturday 16th June 2012 so the prints can be ordered.

Hope you can spot yourselves clearly!

There were lots of volunteers this morning to help with sandwiches and when they had finished they carried on and set up the Memorial Hall, so help is no longer needed at 2pm.  If anyone can help clear up at the end, that would be appreciated.

Well done to the helpers and the Hall looks beautifully festive.

This year’s Annual Parish meeting took on a completely different format, with the focus on Groups and Societies. It was a very relaxed, informal and enjoyable evening with opportunities to try out some Pilates moves and also have a go at cardiac massage on the dolly with the First Responders. Stepping Stones Pre-School, Bowls Club, Carnival & Rec, Over 60’s, Parwich Charities, History Society, Horticultural Society, Film Club, Fit 4 All, Tennis Club, Parwich.org and the Police were all represented with Council Representatives and the Parish Clerk there to chat to parishioners. Val & Alison from Catering4Parwich kept everyone well fed with a great selection of cakes.

Stepping Stones Pre-School would be grateful if anyone in the village has any plant pots, tubs, seeds, or planted seeds/plants that they no longer require and would like to donate to us. This is so that the children can learn about how plants and things in the outside world grow. If you are able to help us please take your items up to the Hall Monday to Thursday 9am until 12noon. Many Thanks.

Friday 18th May – 7.45pm – Memorial Hall

A surprising and intimate portrait of Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady, the first and only female Prime Minister of  The United Kingdom. One of the 20th century’s most famous and influential women, Thatcher came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world.  Meryl Streep won an Oscar for her wonderful acting in the film.  Click here for a review.

Tissington Safer Neighbourhood
Policing Team Steering Group Meeting

Thursday 10th May
7.30pm at Parwich Memorial Hall

We Want Your Concerns

Dear resident,

We have recently introduced a new e-forum (email forum) to the Derbyshire Alert community messaging service, which will give you the chance to contribute to the setting of priorities in your neighbourhood.

As you may be aware, each of our Safer Neighbourhood policing teams hold a meeting every three months to set priorities, offering residents the chance to select what their local police officers and other agencies target.

The aim of our e-forum is to make it easier for you to have a say on priorities. Simply reply to this email by clicking here and tell us what you would like your team to target. (more…)
