Oil Price Drops a little

imageUpdate for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

Good news, Crude oil falls below $74 a barrel this week, the lowest in over a month, edging Kerosene down a little further in a number of areas.

We have secured a rate and our clubs group oil order terms for this weekend are as follows:

Rate:  £0.4850 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

What a Team!

PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB

The weather still continues to shine on us and so at present do the bowling gods, we are playing scarily well! Some of the wheels have got to come off soon.

Tuesday League.

Away – Matlock Golf Club – 12 June – 6.00pm

Why is it that there are some teams you play against that always seem to beat you. The Golf Club is one such team for us. Having said that there are a few occasions when you manage an unexpected win and this was one such occasion. Clara E and Harry B battled away all through the game and won on the last end 21 – 20. Tony and Sue could not quite match them losing 14 – 21. Dennis E playing with John B played their little socks off and won, much against form 21 – 16. Could an unlikely win be on the cards? Our Captain Dawn playing this week with Edith showed no mercy and romped home 21 – 8. Final score Golf Club 65, Parwich 77 what a win. We had taken a slender lead at the top of the Division, but I’m not sure if this win will keep us there. No match next week.

Next match – BLANK WEEK.

Thursday Friendly League.

Home – Chatsworth B – 14 June – 1.45pm.

It’s strange how fixture computers pull teams out of the ‘hat’, but we had to play another Chatsworth team again this week. They are not quite as good as their ‘A’ team, but are still very worthy opponents, however when you come up against a team like Parwich in such scintillating form watch out. In the doubles games Dennis E, partnered by Liz H, carried on his form from Tuesday night. Our pair won 21 -1. Ian J and John H also had a cracking win 21 – 15. Although Dot H and Sue A lost they fought all the way only just losing 18 – 21. After the doubles games Parwich 60 (just 3 short of the maximum) Chatsworth 37. How would the singles players do?

First on the green was Audrey B, who frankly has been hiding her bowls talent under the proverbial bushel. She won 15 – 0! You can’t get better than that. None of the Chatsworth players in the singles managed to get double figures with a win to 4 and 5 and three wins to 15 – 7. Parwich maximum 90, Chatsworth 30, giving the combined score of 150 – 67. Amazing, you really should come down and watch your team play, or better still come and have a go yourself.

Next Match – Away – Matlock Bath – 21 June – 1.45pm

Bowling in the Sunshine

PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB

It has been so nice playing bowls over the past few weeks the weather has been so good to us, the bowls hasn’t been bad either.

Tuesday League.

Home – Wirksworth – 5 June – 6.00pm

We always have a tight match against Wirksworth, they are a much bigger club than us, but we seem to be able to hold our own. For once Rick wasn’t playing with Edith but it did not make a lot of difference with Dot stepping up to the mark. They meandered to a win 21 – 17. Not so good for Dennis E and Sue A who try as they did could not get to grips with the Wirksworth pair losing 7 – 21. Fortunately Pat and John B managed, I know not how, to reverse the result by winning 21 – 7. Did anybody actually see if the had opponents? Finally it was down to Clara E and Tony A to bring home the bacon. Talk about a nail biter, they won on the last end 21 – 20. What a pair. Final score Parwich 70, Wirksworth 65.

Believe it or not dear reader this result puts us top of the division! Can we stay there??

Next match – Away – Matlock Golf Club – 12 June – 6.00pm.

Thursday Friendly League.

Home – Chatsworth A – 7 June – 1.45pm.

Top of the table clash today. Chatsworth are top of the division and Parwich were third or fourth. How will we do? If the doubles pairs were anything to go by, not very well. We unfortunately we did not win a game. Our best result was Clara E and Liz H losing against Chatsworth’s best pair 21 – 14. A really good effort.

We needed to play really well to make up the 34 point deficit after the doubles and well we did play. John H led the way with a win 15 – 3, followed by Dawn, Edith and Sue A winning 6, 9, and 11 respectively. Our other two singles players although losing made good scores also. Would we have done enough to make up the score? Although we more than halved the deficit to 13 it was not enough so we came second, Chatsworth 122, Parwich 109. I think this defeat will drop us down a few places.

Next Match – Home – Chatsworth B – 14 June – 1.45pm

Dear Fitzherbert’s school, Parwich School and Everyone!
What a service we have prepared for you !
HOPE have produced an inspiring film that challenges us all about Global Goals, and what we each can do in our own communities and homes. It is introduced by Emma Watson (Hermione from the Harry Potter films).
We’ll be singing some ‘join in’ hymns to worship God, celebrating birthdays, hearing God’s word from the Bible about this topic, and have some space to pray too.
Coffee (real) , squash and biscuits for all afterwards.
A warm invitation and welcome to all, come and be with your Church family.
Thank you

Close to Perfection

PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB

Can’t remember a better winning week for our bowls club. We nearly got to perfection in terms of scoring, not sure about the look of us though!

Tuesday League.

Away – Bakewell – 29 May – 6.00pm

As you may recall Bakewell’s green is very narrow and thin. Evidently there are no hard and fast rules on size other than it should be between 30 – 60 yards in old money. Wouldn’t want to play on the 60 yard green though, you would need to be in the world’s strong man/woman category. Anyway what ever the size we played a blinder. Captain Dawn and Frances strutting their stuff winning 21 – 7. Harry and Sue storming home 21 – 9. Even Tony and John B managed a win 21 – 17. Rick and Edith obviously wanted to get as many ‘ends’ as possible, each pair winning one shot at a time. They eventually won 21 – 15. A full house for Parwich 84, Bakewell 48. We were second in the division so this should keep us up there.

Next match – Home – Wirksworth – 5 June – 6.00pm.

Thursday Friendly League.

Home – Matlock Park – 31 May – 1.45pm.

Debut appearance for Stuart this week and what a debut it was. Playing with Frances (she can be bossy) they were trailing 8 nil, but what a team they made in the end winning 21 – 16. Trust me it will not be this easy every week. Dennis and Clara also had what must be one of their best ever wins 21 – 3. What a result. Last but most certainly not least Ian and Liz completed a hat trick of wins 21 – 15. What a start, Parwich 64, Matlock 34.

On to the singles and although we had a couple of players missing the outcome was never in doubt. We won 5 out of the 6 games dropping only 3 points. Parwich 87, Matlock 67. Final score Parwich 150, Matlock 101, only 3 off the maximum. We were about third or fourth in the division so this should keep us up there.

Next Match – Away – Chatsworth – 7 June – 1.45pm.
