One space only left for a day’s volunteering on Tuesday 27 November
The History Society has been told of an interesting find which has taken place in the parish of Parwich. At the moment the nature of the find and it’s location have not been disclosed. The Peak District National Park Authority is organising a 5 day excavation of a trench in the vicinity of the find at the end of the month and have offered 10 day spaces to the History Society / village (2 for each of the 5 days). 6 of these have already been filled at our AGM leaving 4 day spaces for other volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering for a day’s excavation you will need to be reasonably fit and healthy, able to do a full day and walk to the site carrying tools as well as have suitable footwear and clothing. If you are interested contact me on 191 by the end of Thursday 15 November. If we are oversubscribed, priority will be given to History Society members.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
With just over six weeks to Christmas, please do check your tank levels. If you have not already filled up for the year or for Christmas, I would highly recommend doing so before the surge in pre-Christmas orders and seasonal rates cut in.
The good news is a renewed supply glut caused by surging U.S. shale production, plus higher output from Russia, Saudi Arabia, and other OPEC members, has more than offset the declines from Iran. Inventories climbed sharply in the U.S. and shale production has exceeded expectations leading to another fall in the price of crude this week which dropped below $70 a barrel today, the lowest since April.
TIP : Please order early and allow plenty of time for delivery. I recommend ordering oil when you have either 35/40% left in your tanks or six weeks supply in winter conditions. This helps ensure you do not run out and also ensures sludge and water at the bottom of the tank is not stirred up when new fuel is added

You can help reduce harmful diesel emissions, CO2, danger and damage on our roads and to our villages by joining in with our group orders. Some of you may be aware that the Parish Council has been pursuing the possibilty of reducing the traffic speed limit through the village to 20 mph for some time. Derbyshire County Council have finally responded to the council. Unfortunately they have refused to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph but will install additional 30 mph repeater signs.
The Parish Council will have the opportunity to consider responding to this letter at the next Council meeting on the 21st of November. I’m sure the council would welcome any comments either here via the blog or directly to members of the council or Andrew Martin the clerk clerk@parwichparishcouncil.org.uk

Tomorrow and the rest of the week, Eva Jones will be selling poppies and other Royal British Legion items (lapel broaches, slap bands, wrist bands, etc). She will be selling these at Parwich Primary school.
On Friday evening these items will be for sale in the Royal British Legion.

The Carnival and Recreation Committee would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the bonfire. It was a great evening helped by curry and chips and a mild night. Your support is invaluable in keeping these events going.
An extra special thank you to everyone who helped build and light the bonfire and to those who are currently tidying it up (you know who you are!). Please don’t let any children go near to the site until it has been completely cleared away.
We have two unclaimed raffle prizes. The winning tickets are green 393 and pink 321. The winners can collect their prize from Karen W by calling 390253.

As well as the usual business, there will be a discussion about exciting proposed projects for the village. These projects will be community projects based around Parwich water and the archaelogist we are hoping to work with on these projects we be at the meeting . Update – the food will be hot pork cobs: 5-hour slow roast pork, apple sauce, stuffing and crackling – there will be a few cheese cobs as well for anyone who doesn’t eat pork.
