Grants Available for Local Groups

Funding boost for Dales community projects

Community organisations can now apply to their local Derbyshire Dales district councillor for funding support.

In a new initiative, each district councillors is allocated £1,000 a year towards projects or initiatives in their wards that will benefit the local community.

Applications to the Local Projects Fund can be made by local groups and individuals based within the Derbyshire Dales that can demonstrate community benefit.

District Council Leader Councillor Lewis Rose OBE said: “Examples of the type of groups that can apply are young people’s organisations such as Scouts and Guides, locally based charities and benevolent societies.

“Groups and organisations can apply for funding both for one-off and minor capital projects and we very much hope that beneficiaries will include vulnerable children or adults, young people, older people, community facilities, parish councils, local environment projects and innovative events promoting community spirit or bringing economic benefit to the area.

“Applicants must be based in the Derbyshire Dales and demonstrate that their project will have a positive effect on people in their local community.”

The minimum grant payable is £100 up to a maximum of £1,000, and more information including an online application form and details of terms & conditions of the fund can be found online at http://www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/localprojectsfund
