Grey Bin Wednesday

No food caddy, put food waste in grey bin.

Olly Sutton

From Alexandra & Family;

We were so grateful to everyone who stood in the cold and braved the November rain to say farewell to Olly.

Despite our sadness, we were comforted by your presence and the whole family wish to thank you for your tribute

Kind regards

Alex

Adapted from the classic novel by Charles Dickens, ‘The Personal History of David Copperfield’ brings to life one of the author’s most cherished characters.

From birth to infancy, from adolescence to adulthood, the good-hearted David Copperfield (Dev Patel) is surrounded by kindness, wickedness, poverty and wealth, as he meets an array of remarkable characters in Victorian England. As David sets out to be a writer, in his quest for family, friendship, romance and status, the story of his life is the most seductive tale of all.

What’s Happening to the Blog?

Regular visitors to the blog may have noticed some erratic behaviour  of the site in recent weeks, most noticeably the disappearance of some or all of the right hand sidebar of links and local info. This is due to recent upgrades in the WordPress system we use to maintain and publish the site.

The overall look, feel and style of the website is defined by what WordPress terms a Theme. This includes things like the colour scheme, layout, menus and style elements. The Theme we have been using since the blog was first created is now old and no longer supported by the latest version of the WordPress editor. This means there are elements of our site we can no longer reliably edit and even some , as we are seeing, that are no longer displayed correctly, if at all.

We are currently working on moving the blog to a new Theme which will involve rebuilding some portions where we have lost material. We are hoping to publish some alternative designs shortly to canvas opinion on preferences and also collect any suggestions on blog content. In the mean time please bear with us if the blog seems to be misbehaving!

Oil Price Higher

FBF25C80-2C22-4991-8A46-7C20D86EC212
Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

The cost of kerosene remains high, but the good news is that the cost of Brent Crude has now stopped rising and in-fact dropped back to below $85 a barrel this week as a new normal settles in. However, the cost of oil remains volatile, with gas prices at their highest ever those who can switch to oil are doing so, leading to higher than normal demand over the winter period.

Many suppliers are unable to take on new bulk orders as they are fully booked for the next few weeks.

Delivery time is still 7 to 14 working days, but due to demand and driver shortages in some areas these times are an estimated delivery time, so please allow plenty of time for your order to be delivered. If you are low on heating oil this group order will not be suitable.

Rate:  £0.5702 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

Ghostly Apparitions?!

No, the two white flying ‘figures’ were a beautiful pair of Egrets, just outside Bradbourne near the brook and visible from the narrow winding section of Brackendale Lane – unfortunately the photo is of poor quality.       And some of you may have spotted a (pair of?) Red Kites just outside Parwich a week or so ago.  We are lucky to get such diverse wildlife.
