Saturday 27th June ‘Wakes Saturday’

9.45 am     Oddfellows’  procession               Starting from the Sycamore.

11.00 am    Oddfellows’ Service                    in St Peter’s Church. All welcome.

1.15 pm     Oddfellows’ Dinner                      in the Memorial Hall

11.00 am to 2.00 pm  Village Market         on the Green.

6.00 pm    Fancy Dress & Carnival                 (Assemble at the School steps.)

6.15 pm    Grand Fancy Dress Carnival     (Procession round the village ending at the Green)

7.30 pm  Hog Roast & Entertainment          on the Green (Entertainment:  Ashbourne Brass Band Concert and Chris Houlihan)

The weather had cleared for the start of the Senior Race, and despite the slippery conditions times this evening were again good. (C Patterson, the outright winner, is pictured above approaching the summit).

There was a slightly controversial entry in this evening’s first race (unless congratulations are in order for one of the competitors, well here’s hoping).

The evening started with fantastic weather, but as the preparations for the Junior Race began, a heavy shower settled over Parwich. This made conditions very slippery, and the rain only began to abate as the last runners reach the summit of the Hill. It was very impressive to see particularly the younger children battling the steep slope and the heavy rain together.
