The weather had cleared for the start of the Senior Race, and despite the slippery conditions times this evening were again good. (C Patterson, the outright winner, is pictured above approaching the summit).

There was a slightly controversial entry in this evening’s first race (unless congratulations are in order for one of the competitors, well here’s hoping).

The evening started with fantastic weather, but as the preparations for the Junior Race began, a heavy shower settled over Parwich. This made conditions very slippery, and the rain only began to abate as the last runners reach the summit of the Hill. It was very impressive to see particularly the younger children battling the steep slope and the heavy rain together.

The children’s film on Thursday will now be the very popular Disney film Frozen (not the LEGO movie as advertised). The film will start at 6.30pm at the Memorial Hall, snacks will be available. Come and sing along to the “coolest comedy-adventure ever to hit the big screen”.

You can sell anything, from outside your own house and at no cost. What have you got to lose?

Oddfellows, if you would like a red rose buttonhole for the parade on wakes Saturday and have not yet ordered, please do so by 8pm on Wednesday 25th June.  The buttonholes are priced at £3.50 and shall be available for collection from outside the Sycamore Inn on the morning of the parade.

Anyone in the village can participate. You can sell anything you like; bric a brac, toys, books, handmade goods, clothes, plants etc. Your items are sold by you outside your own house, or several people could group together at one property. A map will be produced to guide people to participating houses.

Now is the time to start looking out all the items you never use!

What a fantastic Wakes Week. A big thank you to the Carnival & Recreation Committee, the Oddfellows, the Legion, the Sycamore and everyone who works so hard every year to make it such a success. (And the weather was OK too!)
