Update: A new home has now been found for this puppy
Home urgently needed for our beautiful KC registered Apricot standard poodle boy – currently 13 weeks old.
We are reluctantly selling our beautiful Apricot standard poodle boy which we purchased from a registered breeder only last weekend. Unfortunately our son has turned out to be allergic to the puppy so we are left with the sad realisation that the puppy has to go.
The puppy has such a wonderful loving, playful nature and behaves superbly with our son.
He is KC registered, microchipped and all of his vaccinations are up to date.
**Included in the sale if you so wish: Wicker basket with cushion and blanket, dog crate, large selection of toys, water and food bowl, lead and collar – all brand new. **
Please contact Chloe/James on 01335 390175 for more information.

Tonight will be the last Friday football until the back end of the summer holidays. James and I are going to take a short break from football and recharge our batteries.
Can everyone be aware that due to the amazing weather we have recently had, the lines around the football pitch have dried, cracked and opened up. These cracks present a trip hazard to people using the pitch or walking across the area. I have discussed the matter with the council and have experimented using sand to fill in the cracks, but we are not sure how successful this will be. The issue will be discussed at the next council meeting to see what options we can consider (all suggestions welcome).
Please be reminded that children (and adults) play on the football pitch at their own risk. I will remind the children of these potential hazards before we start.
Kind regards
Jason

PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB
Greens are still as slick as ever and we are not coping very well at all. For some reason we start the bowls season really well, but then drop off like the proverbial stone as the season progresses. This year the pattern is sadly being repeated.
Tuesday League.
Away – Chatsworth – 10 July – 6.00pm
Even when clubs are have their own automatic watering systems the sunny weather has been so intense that ‘greens’ are no more. Try as we might we could not get to grips with the Chatsworth green. At least we got to double figures, just. Captain Dawn back playing with Frances showed us all how it should be done by winning 21 – 9. This was our only win in what turned out to be the heaviest defeat of the year so far. Pat and John B were our next best pair and they could only manage to lose 12 – 21. Even our redoubtable combo of Edith and Rick lost. Let us hope that, not only for our gardens and fields sake, we get some rain soon to spike up the greens. Chatsworth 72, Parwich 55.
Next match – Home – Hope – 17 July – 6.00pm
Thursday Friendly League.
Away – Youlgrave – 12 July – 1.45pm.
Now dear knowledgable reader you will know all about the items buried under their green, but when they are coupled with no grass we would have been better playing on the tennis hard courts next door. Our pairs teams did well on the treacherous ground, but only managed one win. Audrey and Clara winning 21 – 15. Both Dennis and Dot and Liz and Ian lost 14 – 21. Youlgrave 57, Parwich 49.
The singles games were shared 3 apiece. Edith had already said that she could not play because she had a badly fractured left eye-lash! What a smart move that was. Keith B did at least give us all a lesson on how to play on on the surface winning 15 – 9. Frances and John B also just about managing wins. We won’t mention how Dawn got on though. Youlgrave 77, Parwich 73. Overall Youlgrave 134, Parwich 122, not a bad result in the scheme of things.
Just think that by this time next week the World Cup will be over, as will Wimbledon, and the school holidays will be looming large!
Next Match – Home – Whitworth – 19 July – 1.45pm.
John B.

We have had the following request from Vicky T:
Has anybody in the village who owns chickens possibly have any form of Flubenvet I could borrow please, whether it be mixed in with layer pellets or just on it’s own. I am unable to get out the village due to a broken wrist, I have ordered some but will take a few days to arrive and would like to start one of my hens on it immediately.Thank you in advance

I’ve seen this pair wandering round the village since Monday and they have just been spotted trying to get to the veg in my garden. I suggest the owner rounds them up because if they’re try it again, they’re likely to be joining it on my plate!
Thank youCheryl

Thank you to all who bought plants last week, just over £50 went to the Carnival & Recreation Committee. This week proceeds will go to Parwich Church. There are still a range of herbaceous plants, shrubs, kitchen garden plants and others, including a large forsythia and a large dogwood which has bright red stems in winter.
If no one is about help yourself to the plants at the gate for Church Farm in Creamery Lane and leave what you think is a fair price in the honesty box. Everything must go.

It’s the end of another very hot, sunny and successful Wakes. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. We really want to keep these events going and we can’t do it without you so a big THANK YOU from the Carnival and Recreation Committee to everyone who helped out and joined in. Especially those who gave up so much of their spare time to keep everything going – you know who you are.
If you have any suggestions for next Wakes or a village event please get in touch with us at lucywigley@googlemail.com. We would also really like new members to join our small Committee so if you are interested just drop me an email or have a chat with one of the Committee members.
Here’s till next time…..

We have received the following from the Parish Council
At the least Parish Council meeting the purchase of a new climbing frame was approved and the order has been placed.
During Wakes week it was brought to the Council’s attention that the proposed location affected the access to parts of the green for funfair rides this year.
The proposed location provided ample width to pass between the climbing frame and the brook. However the operators of the funfair were concerned that this route might be over ground which sloped too much for their vehicles to pass safely.
The suppliers of the climbing frame have very kindly offered an alternative layout which would overcome this problem. The play elements incorporated in the modular design of the climbing frame are exactly the same.
In order that the Council can formally choose one of the layouts, or consider other ideas, an extraordinary meeting will be held on the green at 7:30 on Thursday 12th July.
As with all Parish Council meetings members of the public are welcome.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Rates this summer are round 40% higher than the same time last year. This is due in main to the cost of crude oil which remains in the high $70’s this week and means 500 litres is likely to cost £60 to £70 more this year than last. We are being advised that rates could stay at these levels for some time and in fact may increase further with all the global and political volatility at the moment coupled with increased demand for fuels. Now may therefore be a good time for the Summer Fill!
We have secured a rate and our clubs group oil order terms for this weekend are as follows:
Rate: £0.4788 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

And still we haven’t got wet yet. No point in referring to ‘greens’ they are long gone. Even clubs who have automatic watering systems are struggling because as soon as the water goes on it is evaporated. At least its the same for everybody.
Tuesday League.
Away – Bradwell – 3 July – 6.00pm
A case in point about it being a great leveller was our match against Bradwell. They have not had a very good season so far and were virtually bottom of the league. We on the other hand were second in the division. That counts for nothing at the moment. Dennis and Clara E tried really hard, but still came second 21 – 10. This was somewhat countered by Pat and John B winning 21 – 12. Dawn, playing with Harry B this week, also won 21 – 17. Finally to put the icing on the cake for us, Rick and Edith just needed to win. Not on this patch they didn’t. Try as they might they could not win ‘ends’. The opposition played a blinder. Small consolation was that they did get double figures, just. Final score Bradwell 71, Parwich 63. Bradwell will probably go up a bit. We will certainly fall.
Next match – Away – Chatsworth – 10 July – 6.00pm
Thursday Friendly League.
Home – Bradwell – 5 July – 1.45pm.
Bradwell again in this league. They are doing a bit better here and our ‘green’ is just as slick as anybodies. Dennis E continues his impressive record this time playing with Liz H. They romped home 21 – 3. Dennis is becoming a real ‘green’ bandit. Clara E and John H also managed to master the tricky conditions and won 21 – 15. Unfortunately we could not get a hat trick as Ian J and Audrey B lost against Bradwells best pair. However because of Dennis and Liz’s heroic efforts we held a slender 50 – 39 lead after the doubles.
We shared the singles 3 apiece with Keith B showing everybody how to play on an ice rink. He sauntered in 15 – 2. Although we only won two other singles our losing players managed to score well and John H playing twice because of too few players only just lost on the final end. Final score Parwich 124, Bradwell 102.
What is going to happen next week when we play on ‘the elephant buried under the green’, green. Your thoughts will be very much needed!
Next Match – Away – Youlgrave – 12 July – 1.45pm.
John B.
