As we do more slide shows we will get better at it, but in the mean time let us know your thoughts on how this works. Also let us know if you have any problems displaying it with your browsers.
Please get in touch if you have any sets of photos you think would make a good slide show, or if you are willing to take photos at Open Gardens or during Wakes Week to create specific shows on them.
HOLBY City’s Tom Chambers returned to Derbyshire to open the new imaging centre at the Nuffield Health Hospital in Littleover.
The Children’s Horticultural Show as always is to take place alongside the village Scarecrow Competition and Open Gardens next Sunday 22nd June 2008. To enter your Scarecrow, place it in a visible location in Parwich village, and let us know about it on the day by 11-30am at the Memorial Hall.

On last week’s excellent tour of Brassington I got a copy of the new edition of Ron Slack’s “Lands and Lead Miners: a History of Brassington” (Tempus Publishing, 2007, ISBN 978 0 7524 4497 0 paperback £14-99, it was cheaper for those who came on the tour). It took me a few days to get going on the book, some of the sections are detailed and have to be read carefully, but today it has drawn me in. It is a most impressive piece of work and really evokes what life has been like over the last two thousand years. The descriptions of how people lived in the late medieval and early modern periods are fascinating. I particularly feel I gained a real insight into what it would have been like inside the village houses.
