Thanks so much to everyone who supported Sunday’s apple pressing. To Parwich British Legion for hosting, to all those who brought along their apples, to the enthusiastic mashers and pressers, and last, but not least, to John H for supplying the equipment and overseeing what was a great village community event.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
OPEC+ output cuts are looking increasingly likely which is pushing Brent Crude up to $88 a barrel this Friday, despite slowing economic growth and looming recessions. Estimated delivery times are 5 to 10 working days. Delivery times are only an estimated delivery time. Please allow plenty of time for your order to be delivered.
TIP: Pre-winter health checks:- We recommend spending a few minutes this weekend giving your tank a health check before going into the winter to reduce the chance of any issues occurring in the colder months ahead that could leave you without oil: 1) Visual inspection – check your tank for any signs of bulging, sags, holes or cracks occurring; ensure the base is sturdy/adequate and that the tank doesnt overhang the base in any areas; and ensure 3 sides of the tank are accessible for safety checks, as suppliers could refuse to deliver your oil for any of these reasons. 2) Check your gauge is correct – if you have a gauge, do a manual dip test by dipping a clean stick or rod into your tank until it reaches the bottom to ensure the gauge is reading correctly against what you can see the level of the oil is against the rod or stick. We often hear of faulty gauges causing members issues as they think they have a lot more oil than they actually do. 3) Test your heating system – it is a good time to test your central heating to check it hasnt developed any gremlins over the summer. And if you havent already, its worth getting your boiler serviced to ensure it is at full health going into its peak usage months.
Rate: £0.8397 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

Downton Abbey: A New Era is the sequel to the hugely popular 2019 Downton Abbeymovie, which itself was a spin-off from the legendary TV series.
Fans will be delighted to know that all the main cast are back for the Downton Abbey sequel, including Dame Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, and Elizabeth McGovern. Plus a string of new cast members including Dominic West.
The film takes the Crawley family to France when the Dowager Countess of Grantham gets a French villa to her name after the demise of a marquis who she had a fling with in the late 19th century. The entire Crawley family, who initially takes the whole thing as a joke, is invited to the villa by the son and wife of the dead nobleman. After arriving in France, Robert uncovers a family secret that turns his world upside-down.

As many of you may know, our Ukranian guests have returned to Ukraine. Initially they went back to sort out documentation that was impossible to achieve from here. Since their return, they have felt relatively safe at home and have decided to stay there for the time-being.
If they decide to move on to another country, they will go to stay with family in USA.
We would like to thank everyone for the wonderful warm welcome that you gave to them and also for the huge amount of practical help that so many of you kindly offered and gave to them. While there were many logistical difficulties living in a village with limited transport they could not have been more warmly welcomed by you all.
Thank you
Paul and Caroline
