UPDATE: the dog has been reunited with his owner.
A dog has been found behind Sycamore Cottages – he is approx. 2 years old, light brown and white collie cross with pink nose.
He has a collar but no tag. He could have come into the village over the fields from Tissington.
At present he is with Jacqui and Paul but they can’t keep him for long. Can anyone help or does anyone know who he might belong to – if so please call Jacqui on 390194.

A fast-living, cynical London music executive (Danny Mays) heads to a remote Cornish village on a stag weekend where he’s pranked by his boss (Noel Clarke) into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen (led by James Purefoy). This was reported this morning at 9.34:
Backhill Lane blocked.
A tree has fallen across the road on Backhill Lane just north from where is joined by Monsdale Lane. It has been passed using the verge but this may not be suitable for larger or more delicate vehicles. It has been reported to the police who should arrange for it to be cleared.

The Parish Council has been approached by residents concerned about the number of cars that are sometimes parked in this area. The Clerk undertook to look into the possibility of using a residents’ parking scheme to address these concerns. These schemes are run by the Highways Authority (Derbyshire County Council) who provide details on their website. These schemes cover relatively large areas, do not guarantee parking in any particular place and come at a significant cost to residents.They do not seem suitable for Parwich.
The owner of the Old Shop has kindly allowed the Clerk to have sight of the marketing text for its letting and the advice for guests. This is consistent with trying to avoid inconvenience for residents, although it is not possible to guarantee that it is always followed.
The road is a public space and the Parish Council does not formally have either any authority, or responsibility, to control how it is used. Should vehicles be parked illegally (e.g. either obstructing emergency vehicles or not taxed) this can be reported to the relevant authority.
The Parish Council would therefore simply like to encourage residents and visitors to park considerately and continue to attempt to resolve any problems courteously.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Rates edge up slightly this week as Brent Crude continues to hover around $60/$61 a barrel. However, suppliers are seeing a noticeable increase in activity this week as we all prepare for winter. Have you checked your tank levels and filled up for the winter months ahead? Delivery times are 5 to 10 working days.
TIP – Pre winter checks: With the evenings already getting much cooler, this weekend would be a good time to test your central heating to check it has not developed any gremlins over the summer.
Have you serviced your boiler recently? If not, it would also be a good time to get this booked in. Bleeding any air that has built up in the radiators is also good idea if you are able to do so, to ensure your heating is running at maximum efficiency.

Mixed fortunes on the green this week. We played our last game on a Tuesday evening at home against Matlock Bath who were keen to win in order to gain promotion to Division 1. We always have a lovely, sociable evening with them so we felt somewhat guilty when we beat them easily by 78 points to 52. However, on seeing the results the following morning for the rest of the League we were pleased to see that they were still promoted. We finished a creditable 5th in this League.
Thursday afternoon saw us playing away at Youlgrave – you may well recall that a previous writer
of these notes was convinced that there is an elephant buried under this green! Well, I can confirm that it is still there and working very much in the home team’s favour! – or maybe they just have a very good team who are top of the Division whilst we are bottom. Suffice to say we had our greatest defeat this year losing 74-153. Only 1 more game this season next Thursday at home to Hathersage.
HELP NEEDED!!!
During October we are having an end of season maintenance day (cutting hedges, painting sheds, scarifying the green etc.). We would much appreciate a few hours of help with these tasks. If you are willing to assist, please let us know via the comment on the Blog or telephone 724. Many thanks.

Time to start your Sunday early. We have changed the children’s football from Friday to Sunday morning.
This change has come about from our work demands, but should also allow us to play on grass for longer, which is far safer.
We will start at 9am and finish around 10am giving you the rest of the day to enjoy the remainder of your weekend.
We hope this change of time will be successful and are looking forward to seeing the children there this weekend!
Reminder that young children should be accompanied by parents, we are always looking for parent helpers, parents should familiarise themselves with our rules.

Parwich Bowls Club Report
Tuesday, lovely evening, great company, green in superb condition and I don’t mean at Parwich as we were away at Chatsworth – well the green is in Edensor really. The only downside was that I discovered too late that chips were in offer in the Cavendish club. No matter, the result was what counted, we won by 81 points (maximum possible 84) to 57. A good win indeed. Only 1 game left in this League next Tuesday at home to Matlock Bath. We should finish in the perfect position, 5th or 6th I guess so no promotion this year.
Thursday afternoon was a different story. We were again 3 players short of a full team meaning that 3 of us had to play twice. Now you might think that this could be an advantage as those who played again should know how the green is performing. Against fellow strugglers Bradwell A, however, it was not the case, Bradwell played very well to win the match 132-117, our captain for the day, Fran, having our best score. Both clubs will be playing in Division 2 next year as we are propping up Division 1 with Bradwell just one place above us. Two games left in this League and whatever the results we will not be able to avoid relegation.
