Serco will restart separate weekly collections of food waste on Derbyshire Dales residents’ scheduled collection day from this coming Monday, 29 November.
Separate food waste collections were suspended at the end of July due to the national shortage of HGV drivers impacting the District Council’s waste and recycling service. This freed up teams to focus on domestic and recycling waste.
As promised, the three months suspension of excess recycling, which started from 30 August, will also be lifted from 29 November. We are appealing though to residents to please be mindful that putting out lots of excess at the first opportunity could lead to trucks filling up more quickly than usual and rounds not being completed.
Please therefore try to limit excess for the time being and see our advice on how to present excess recycling so it is easily identifiable at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/excessrecycling

The Chief Veterinary Officers for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have agreed to bring in new housing measures to protect poultry and captive birds from avian influenza following a number of confirmed cases across Great Britain in recent weeks.
“Whether you keep just a few birds or thousands, from Monday 29 November onwards you will be legally required to keep your birds indoors, or take appropriate steps to keep them separate from wild birds. We have not taken this decision lightly, taking this action now is the best way to protect your birds from this highly infectious disease.”

Adapted from the classic novel by Charles Dickens, ‘The Personal History of David Copperfield’ brings to life one of the author’s most cherished characters.

From birth to infancy, from adolescence to adulthood, the good-hearted David Copperfield (Dev Patel) is surrounded by kindness, wickedness, poverty and wealth, as he meets an array of remarkable characters in Victorian England. As David sets out to be a writer, in his quest for family, friendship, romance and status, the story of his life is the most seductive tale of all.

After an excellent End of Season Lunch at the Sycamore Inn, where of course we were looked after and fortified with excellent fayre, members of the Parwich Bowls Team lined up to parade the Thursday League runner-up trophy that had been presented at the recent League AGM. That the top place winner’s trophy would have been preferred is history now and we accept this with the dignity that is required of sportsmen; it’s nonetheless a considerable achievement. However the prize carries with it promotion to a higher Division and a chance to pit our skills against some new opposition in our quest to go one better next term!

We are just in the process of moving into Knob Hall and need some assistance with the gardens.
The greenery needs radically cutting back and we are looking for a contract gardening company or some gardening professionals to help us with a few days work to break it’s back.
Once under control we believe we can manage.
Any referrals greatly received
