…and Food Caddy
This is just a quick note to say Wakes this year falls on Saturday 26th June. As you can see this is very close to the government date!! The Carnival Committee, Pub, Legion and Odd Fellows are all starting to plan what we can and can’t do. Obviously this will all depend on the rules set by the government but as soon as we know more we will let you know.
If anyone is willing to join the very small Carnival Committee, to help where you can, please email lucywigley@googlemail.com
Alternatively just drop me an email with any good ideas you have.
Thanks and keep your fingers crossed!

Let’s turn Parwich into an Easter extravaganza and hopefully create a few smiles along the way.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Oil prices plummeted by 10 percent this week as a rise in the U.S. dollar, the rising U.S. crude inventories, and fresh setbacks in vaccination programs in Europe weighed on the market. Brent Crude is now $63 a barrel.
Delivery times are 7 to 10 working days from Club order on Monday. Please note, the delivery times on this order are estimated and subject to weather and supply conditions.
TIP: Avoid water causing issues in your tank – As winter draws to a close it is a good idea to put a Water Scavenger into your tank to absorb and remove any water that may have entered your tank during the wetter months, to prevent water being sucked into your system and causing issues. It is simple to use, just fix the cord to the tank and drop in the Scavenger and its water absorbing polymers will absorb only water and no oil. Once the Scavenger is full just remove from tank and dispose of.
Or if you would like to test for the presence of water first, you can purchase a Water Test Kit. For more information please visit The Club Store.
If you are already very low or have run out, this group order will not be suitable.
Rate: £0.3885 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

For all those who have been doing their best to keep the wild bird population and other people’s poultry flocks safe by restricting their own birds, today’s government announcement comes as very welcome news:
19 March 2021: The risk of avian influenza to both wild and kept birds has reduced to ‘medium’. The Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) requiring enhanced biosecurity will remain in force but Wednesday 31 March 2021 will be the last day poultry and other captive birds will need to be housed (housing restrictions end 23:59 31 March 2021). Bird gatherings are still prohibited. High standards of biosecurity remain essential as infection may still be present in the environment.

Weekly food waste collections return
Food recycling returns to its usual weekly collection frequency from this coming Monday (15 March) following disruptions caused by Covid impacts and bad weather during the first part of the year. Your food waste will now be collected separately from other waste in our new vehicles (like the one pictured). A reminder too that garden waste collections restart from 15 March.

The next meeting of Parwich Parish Council will be held on Wednesday the 17th March 2021 at 7:30 pm.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak Parish Councils continue to be advised not to meet face to face unless this is the only way that they can conduct their business.
The meeting will therefore once again be conducted using Zoom. The agenda contains login details that can be used by members of the public to join the meeting.
There is also a telephone number which will enable you to listen to the meeting and speak when permitted.
If you have not used Zoom before you are strongly advised to download their app in advance. This will enable you set it up on your device and familiarise yourself with its operation.

The cricket pavilion on Parsons Croft currently has very little use. But unfortunately it is becoming increasingly expensive to maintain.
This problem has been further compounded by a recent inspection which has confirmed the presence of asbestos cement wall panelling in its construction.
The Parish Council must decide what action to take. The link below will take you to a page of the Parish Council’s website which provides more information and an opportunity to answer a few simple questions about your own views on what should be done.
Please help the Parish Council to understand your views when dealing with this issue.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Brent Crude is up another $2 dollars to $68 a barrel today on news that OPEC+ will maintain production cuts into April, and the larger than expect inventory draws in the US as a result of the cold weather during February.
Delivery times are 7 to 10 working days from Club order on Monday. Please note, the delivery times on this order are estimated and subject to weather conditions and supply.
TIP: Get your order in before Easter – With the Easter holidays now only 4 weeks away, the demand (and therefore possibly the cost) for oil will be rising again, plus the bank holiday days over the long Easter weekend will increase delivery times if ordered too close to Easter. We suggest placing your oil order early enough to allow for any delays the increase in demand right before Easter may cause.
If you are already very low or have run out, this group order will not be suitable. Please do not order as we are unable to expedite deliveries at the moment.
Rate: £0.3845 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

Best info I have at the moment is that Green Bin and associated Food Caddy collection is still suspended.
Green bin is due to start again week commencing 15th March. Food caddy continues to be fortnightly (with Grey bin) until crew numbers improve sufficiently.

There are bundles of snowdrops in the green (ready to plant now for a display next year) outside Rookery House. Money raised will go to Parwich and District Horticultural Society. Please place money in the jar provided and remember to hand sanitise afterwards.
Last year we raised around £160 from doorstep plant sales and donated the money to the Memorial Hall to help with running costs during the pandemic. Look out for more plants and vegetable seedlings as the spring gets going. Proceeds will be distributed later to help another village group in need.
Thank you,
Sue H
