Recognising that many children are currently on holiday we will take a break from football, we will start back on Friday 18th August. Sunday football will start back on 20th August. Children and adults are more than welcome to continue and play at the same times whilst we take this short break.
Thanks
Jason

Friday Football News

WE’RE ON THE GRASS…….. YIPPPEEEEEE!!

‘Children’s Friday Football’ and ‘Adults Sunday Football’ can now be played on the grass.
This week our new mowing contract has started on Parsons Croft.

Can Friday football children please bring with them their football boots (if they have some, bring your trainers if not)… Shin pads are always preferred and will help prevent bruised shins.  Can children also bring with them any pairs of football boots that they have grown out of, so that they can be passed onto other children. If you wish to sell them please let us know….
For those of you who have not yet had the opportunity to come and watch the children train, then you are welcome to come down anytime.

ADULT FOOTBALL: The adult football got off to a flying start with 12 adults taking part, we probably need another 4-6 players to make it less tiring for us older ones!!.
We also had a large number of stand-by children who played their own game…Well done !  The younger children may want to play each Sunday themselves 6.30-7.30, but this will not be supervised, sorry!! Although you will be allowed to use the Friday Football equipment (balls, bibs, cones, etc) during this time.

Children’s Friday Football: Now that the nights have closed in on us, we are now having to play football on the hardcourt area under the spotlights. To avoid confusion we will maintain the newer times of 17.30hrs meet-up at the hard courts – 18.40hrs finish

This will mean some small changes for the children:

  • Please do not wear football boots.., trainers should now be worn.
  • The courts will be cleaned next week, but this week they may be a little slippery, take extra care (evening frosts may also make the courts slippery).
  • It would be better if the children wear tracksuit bottoms and gloves in case they fall over, this will also help keep them warmer.
  • Can you ensure your children bring a drink of water.
  • The Cricket Pavilion will be open for parents and children who don’t wish to play (or get too cold).
(does anyone have a spare fan heater that they don’t need any longer, that we could use at the Pavilion?)

We will continue with Friday Football into the winter months, for as long as possible, and whilst children wish to continue playing.

Football for Adults: This has been a bit of a slow burn, we are struggling to maintain enough regular players each week. We will STOP the adult football for now and perhaps relaunch in early 2017. Would a Tuesday night be any better?

Christmas Day Football – All Welcome!….. This has now become part of the Parwich tradition. For those who are not aware, for the last two years we have held a football match on Christmas Day. However, it feels more like a cross between rugby and football and is great fun!. We plan to do this again this year.  I will discuss with ‘Carl-os de Messi’ at the legion and post a further blog with times and venue. From my short memory, last year it ran from 11am-12ish on Christmas Day.

 Many thanks

Jason

This morning I have swept up great piles of glass in the road around the Green, and understand from a lady walking her children to school that there is more up Church Walk. it may be wise to advise Mums to brief kids on bikes and generally fooling around, to be careful.

It is very fine crushed glass which is probably from the rubbish collection yesterday.

I have notified the sanitation dept at Derbyshire Dales and they are contacting the contractor to check the Lorry for signs of leakage.

National Sports Week

It seems that the Pupils of Parwich Primary School had a great time last week as part of National Sports Week. There are some excellent photos on the Ashbourne News Telegraph website. It is great they had a chance to experience so many different activities:
