Weekly food waste collections return
Food recycling returns to its usual weekly collection frequency from this coming Monday (15 March) following disruptions caused by Covid impacts and bad weather during the first part of the year. Your food waste will now be collected separately from other waste in our new vehicles (like the one pictured). A reminder too that garden waste collections restart from 15 March.

Parwich Council Meeting

The next meeting of Parwich Parish Council will be held on Wednesday the 17th March 2021 at 7:30 pm.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak Parish Councils continue to be advised not to meet face to face unless this is the only way that they can conduct their business.

The meeting will therefore once again be conducted using Zoom. The agenda contains login details that can be used by members of the public to join the meeting.

There is also a telephone number which will enable you to listen to the meeting and speak when permitted.

If you have not used Zoom before you are strongly advised to download their app in advance. This will enable you set it up on your device and familiarise yourself with its operation.

The agenda is here.

Cricket Pavilion on Parsons Croft

The cricket pavilion on Parsons Croft currently has very little use. But unfortunately it is becoming increasingly expensive to maintain.

This problem has been further compounded by a recent inspection which has confirmed the presence of asbestos cement wall panelling in its construction.

The Parish Council must decide what action to take. The link below will take you to a page of the Parish Council’s website which provides more information and an opportunity to answer a few simple questions about your own views on what should be done.

Please help the Parish Council to understand your views when dealing with this issue.

Oil Price Up

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

Brent Crude is up another $2 dollars to $68 a barrel today on news that OPEC+ will maintain production cuts into April, and the larger than expect inventory draws in the US as a result of the cold weather during February.
Delivery times are 7 to 10 working days from Club order on Monday. Please note, the delivery times on this order are estimated and subject to weather conditions and supply.

TIP: Get your order in before Easter – With the Easter holidays now only 4 weeks away, the demand (and therefore possibly the cost) for oil will be rising again, plus the bank holiday days over the long Easter weekend will increase delivery times if ordered too close to Easter. We suggest placing your oil order early enough to allow for any delays the increase in demand right before Easter may cause.

If you are already very low or have run out, this group order will not be suitable. Please do not order as we are unable to expedite deliveries at the moment.

Rate:  £0.3845 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

Blue Bin on Wednesday

Best info I have at the moment is that Green Bin and associated Food Caddy collection is still suspended.

Green bin is due to start again week commencing 15th March. Food caddy continues to be fortnightly (with Grey bin) until crew numbers improve sufficiently.

Snowdrops for Sale

There are bundles of snowdrops in the green (ready to plant now for a display next year) outside Rookery House. Money raised will go to Parwich and District Horticultural Society. Please place money in the jar provided and remember to hand sanitise afterwards.

Last year we raised around £160 from doorstep plant sales and donated the money to the Memorial Hall to help with running costs during the pandemic. Look out for more plants and vegetable seedlings as the spring gets going. Proceeds will be distributed later to help another village group in need.

Thank you,

Sue H

Covid Vaccination

The NHS are now inviting all aged 60 and over to have their COVID vaccinations, just in case some people haven’t seen it. If you haven’t got your NHS number, the site sorts it anyway. It is through NHS, not your doctors surgery, allowing you to book both vaccinations, but the nearest centre is Derby.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

An increased draw on US oil reserves and reduced production due to the severe winter storms in the US push Brent Crude up to over $63 a barrel this week.
Please note the delivery times on this order are estimated and subject to weather conditions and supply. Therefore, please allow plenty of time for your delivery and do order early to avoid disappointment.

Upgrade your oil with additive – It is a good idea to upgrade your fuel to Premium fuel with a bottle of Exocet Additive (from £14.99 treating 1,000L). Exocet Additives lower carbon emissions, stabilise fuel, clean injectors, breakdown and inhibit sludge formation in your tank, and improve overall fuel performance and efficiency.

We have a selection of Additives available in The Oil-Club Store with discounted Club prices for our members. If you have an AGA or Range cooker (with a wick), then please ensure you order the Cooker Additive.

If you are already very low or have run out, this group order will not be suitable. Please do not order as we are unable to expedite deliveries at the moment.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

Brent Crude continues its upward trend passing $61 a barrel today.
Please note the delivery times on this order are estimated. Suppliers are busy and estimated delivery times are 7 to 14 working days from when Club orders close on Monday. Some suppliers are experiencing delays with deliveries due to drivers self-isolating and the snow and ice in certain parts of the country. Therefore, please allow plenty of time for your delivery and do order early to avoid disappointment.

Have you checked your tank? With the cold weather and so many of us working from home, have you made a visual inspection of your oil level?

If you are already very low or have run out, this group order will not be suitable. Please do not order as we are unable to expedite deliveries at the moment.
