Thank you all so much for getting involved in the donations for the amazing staff at Royal Derby Hospital.
I’m pleased to say that we’ve collected 150 hand creams, 125 lip balms and a whole bag full of biscuits and cereal bars! Amazing!
There’s also still the collection from the lovely people of Tissington to add to the totals.
Thank you again, I’m positive the staff team will really appreciate our gifts.

My father, Alan Oldfield, has been ill for several months now, he used to be very active in the village. Id like to cheer his day by asking for people to wave if they pass by.
If you take a walk round Parwich and pass by Chestnut Cottages , give a wave at number 6 to the gentlemen sitting by the window. This is Alan Oldfield, he will be 90 in August and would love to see you wave to say hello. He spends most days looking out the window watching the world go by so please say ‘Hi’ with a wave. It will cheer him up no end.
Thank you , from Janette H his daughter

The AGM for this year has been postponed again. We are unable to make any plans for the future in the present circumstances and as we have had no income this year – Open Gardens had to be cancelled – we are unfortunately unable to make any donations to any village groups. The accounts are available for anyone to see if they contact Jenny Letten, our Treasurer, or Jill Love or Sue Ash. If anyone wishes to pay the £3 subscription for 2021 (discounts for seeds are still available for members) it can be forwarded to any of the above. We are hoping that restrictions will be lifted over the summer and if so we will then plan for future events, notice for which will published on the Blog and village boards.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Brent crude has been rising all week to a one year high heading for $60 a barrel. Optimism in Covid vaccine roll outs and draws on oil inventories continuing to be larger than expected are all adding to the upward pressure, with some suggesting prices could rise much further over the coming months.
Please note the delivery times on this order which are estimated. Suppliers are busy and estimated delivery times are 7 to 14 working days from when Club orders close on Monday. Some suppliers are struggling with deliveries due to drivers self-isolating and the snow and ice in certain parts of the country. Therefore, please allow plenty of time for your delivery and do order early to avoid disappointment.
Have you checked your tank? With the cold weather and so many of us working from home, have you made a visual inspection of your oil level? As we have had some members reporting faulty readings from their meters over the last few weeks.
We suggest ordering when you have 6-8 winter weeks worth of oil left, to ensure you do not run out incase of any delivery delays caused by icy conditions, flooded roads or drivers off isolating due to Covid-19. Delivery times in the winter months are all subject to weather and supply conditions and are an estimated delivery time.
If you are already very low or have run out, this group order will not be suitable. Please do not order as we are unable to expedite deliveries at the moment.
Rate: £0.3595 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

Thank you all for your amazing support, I’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of people wanting to get involved.
We’ve already gathered a whole load of hand creams, lip balms and biscuits, and I’ve placed a large order today with the £200 of monetary donations.
Furthermore, a massive thank you to Adele Bonshor for organising a similar collection in Tissington which will be donated alongside ours
The Parwich collection box will be out through to the end of this week if anyone still wishes to drop in any hand cream or lip balms.
I’ll post again next week with our grand total of donations before they’re dropped off for delivery to the Royal Derby Hospital.

Best info I have at the moment is that Green Bin and associated Food Caddy collection is still suspended.
Blue bin collection has been a bit hit and miss in some areas but hopefully we’ll get a collection this week!

We’ve received a number of reports concerning dog fouling around the village. There are numerous signs and bins around the village like this one-

Whilst recognising that the majority of dog owners in the village do clean up after their dogs it is sadly not everyone. Please remember to bag it and bin it.
Also there seem to be a number of dogs allowed to wander free around the village. Please accompany your dog at all times otherwise there is a risk of it fouling around the streets and also getting into fields with stock. During this lockdown there are very few visitors in the village so we can’t push the blame onto outsiders.
Particular “hot” spots at the moment appear to be:
Area around the school;
The footpath beside Smithy Close;
Parsons Croft.
Thank you on behalf of all Parwich residents.

On behalf of the family I would like to thank each and every one of you who came to stand outside church on Friday for Alison’s funeral and to those who stood outside in Ballidon and along the roadside whilst we made our way into Parwich.
I would also like to thank you all for your kind donations which will be going to Cancer Research Uk.
We are sorry you couldn’t join us in church but here is Alison’s eulogy which Carl wrote and read for her.
Thanks again, Shaun and family.
Alison asked me some time ago if I would read out some words for her when this day came. She never got round to finishing what she wanted me to read but did leave instruction that I was to say something and I had to make it funny. So no pressure then…

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Brent crude has been stable all week hovering between $55-$56 a barrel. A larger than expected crude draw last week would normally push prices higher but concern over global pandemic lockdowns continues to weigh heavy on traders.
Please note – suppliers are busy and estimated delivery times are 7 to 14 working days from when Club orders close on Monday. Some suppliers are struggling with deliveries due to drivers self-isolating and the snow and ice in certain parts of the country. Shaun has asked us to post the following information:

For anyone wishing to pay their respects, the cortege is expected to arrive at approximately 1.15 pm. The service will be followed by a burial. Due to the current lockdown restrictions only family and close friends are able to attend the service.
Our thoughts and sympathies go out to Shaun all the family.

Hello,
I’m arranging a collection of goodies to be taken in for the amazing staff team at Royal Derby Hospital, as a small token of appreciation for all they are doing.
Having spoken with one of the ICU team I understand that handcreams and lip balms would be very much appreciated, as would biscuits for tea breaks etc.
If anyone would like to get involved there are a couple of ways you can help:
I will arrange to leave a box at the top of our drive (The Orchards) to accept donations of hand creams, lip balms etc.
Alternatively, if it’s easier to donate a monetary amount I will gladly collect it all together and place an online order for some supplies at the end of this week. You’d be welcome to either pop cash in an envelope into our letterbox or contact me to arrange a bank transfer if easier.
I’m hoping to have enough of a collection ready to drop over early next week.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any queries at all.
Many thanks
Rosie (07712 481 197 or Parwich 458)

Today’s news from DDDC-
As Covid related staff absences continue to affect our crews we will be focusing on household waste collections as a priority at the moment.
Household waste rounds will continue as normal, but for the foreseeable future food waste collections will only take place alongside the household waste rounds.
Garden waste collections are suspended, together with food waste collections that would usually take place alongside garden waste rounds.
Recycling collections will take place where possible. Please leave out your recycling as crews will try to pick up recycling where they can once they have completed household waste rounds. However, if the crew have not visited by the end of the week that your recycling collection is due please put your recycling bins back in until your next recycling collection. Read more>
We apologise for this unavoidable situation and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please see the link below if you are interested in volunteering with the vaccine rollout. They are ramping up the vaccinations in Derby Arena and still need steward volunteers. I am happy to provide more information about what it entails.
