Just to let you know.. Runt is home safe and sound. Thank you to two lovely people hearing him when they were tending to their horses. I was trying too hard not to cry and didn’t get their names.Thank you for your help.Lauren
Last seen around 11pm last night. He’s called ‘Runt’ and he’s 17, practically deaf and can’t see very well. He’s tabby and white. Very wobbly gait and he’ll probably be tilting his head to the left. It’s very unusual for him to go wandering.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Despite the continued escalation of tension in The Gulf, oil prices have dropped to $57 dollars a barrel as the trade war between the U.S and China escalates. Delivery times are 5 to 10 working days.
TIP: Over time water builds up at the bottom of a tank through condensation. To prevent this causing issues, we recommend using a water scavenger which will absorb contaminated water in the tank. It is simple to use, just fix the cord to the tank and drop in the scavenger. Or if you would like to test for water you can use a Water Test Kit. For more information please visit The Club Store.
If you would like to upgrade your fuel to premium, additives can be purchased from The Oil-Club Shop. If you have an AGA or Rayburn, then please ensure you order the Cooker additive.
Rate: £0.4520 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

Big thank you to all those who helped set up the event, all the race marshals, time keepers, and race control. Over £350 was raised for the Memorial Hall.
We had 80 runners in the main race – thank you to all the runners for coming to join us. No records were broken but the rain kept away.
Many thanks
Ed

I am working in Matlock but am finding the journey very difficult. When we moved here some weeks ago, my employer was going to provide transport, but that fell through. Does anyone regularly travel to Matlock who would like a contribution towards petrol in exchange for lifts? I work shifts (days 0800 to 2000, nights 1930 to 0800) and would ideally like to keep my current job.
Alternatively I would be interested in any work more local to Parwich; I have experience in bar/catering, management, admin (some years ago), customer service and am currently working as a Support Worker.

Children’s Friday football to become Sunday football???
Due to work commitments James and I are thinking of moving the Friday football to Sunday morning (9.00am – 10.00am).
Sunday works for us both and the early start time still allows everyone to make the most of the day.
It will also give us an advantage that we could play for longer in the year on the grassed area, as opposed to the hard courts.
I have discussed this idea with a number of residents at Parsons Croft who don’t see any issues. I welcome any feedback from other Parsons Croft residents and parents of the children.
Many thanks
Jason and James

The good, the bad and the ugly!
The good bit about this week’s efforts down on the bowling green was a home win against Bradwell 64-59. Although the match finished 2 games each Parwich had the better scores, Rick and Edith having the best result coming in at 21-8, Tony and Sue not far behind at 21-9.
The bad result came on our visit to Hope Works where we lost 114-121, and this was against their B team! We play their A team in 2 weeks time. However, Fran and Clare had a magnificent win 21-20 being behind throughtout the game until the 23rd and final end. Harry also played particularly well winning 15-1.
The ugly reference concerns one of our other pairs who lost 21-4 (their opponents did play particularly well) but their names have been withheld to protect the not so innocent!
This Sunday we will be having a little competition amongst ourselves down at Parson’s Croft. Spectators and potential new members are welcome.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Although tensions in the Middle East remain high, Brent Crude continues to be around $63 a barrel as concern over the continuing trade war between the US and China escalates. However, the Pound continues to struggle against the Dollar due to Brexit fears, which has offset any drop in kerosene rates over the last week. Delivery times are 5 to 10 working days.
TIP: It is a good idea to upgrade your fuel to premium fuel with an Exocet additive. Exocet additives lower carbon emissions, stabilise fuel, cleans injectors, inhibit sludge formation in the tank and improves overall fuel performance. Additives can be purchased from The Oil-Club Shop. If you have an AGA or Rayburn, then please ensure you order the Cooker additive.

Parwich Bowls Club Report
Tuesday evening saw our club at Bakewell in Bath Gardens which I must say are stunning this year. The town should be rightly proud of the flowers there, in fact some of our team chose to spend some of our practice period admiring them rather than getting to grips with the green! It made no difference, however, as we won the match 72-63. We were rather proud of this result because Bakewell’s green is another one-off – a long, thin rectangle with tree roots in one corner! Dawn and Fran did particularly well in an epic game lasting 30 ends.
On Thursday afternoon we were at home to Hazlewood. The weather as you may recall was rather warm! Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in these conditions. We carried on regardless and having lost the doubles 27-63 knew that there was a lot of hard work ahead in the singles. We almost recouped the difference as we won the singles 81-47 only to lose the match 108-110. Again, a good result against quality opposition. Nevertheless, we remain at the bottom of this division and relegation looks almost a certainty at the end of the year.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Oil prices edged up on Friday, supported by weekly U.S. reports of inventory draws and Middle Eastern tensions. However, the worsening outlook on the global economy capped any real price gains, as Brent Crude oil hovered around $63 a barrel today. Delivery times are 5 to 10 working days.
TIP: With summer in full swing, greenery is blossoming. So it is a good idea at this time of year to cut back any overgrowth that may be surrounding your tank or obscurring access to your property, so that the tanker drivers have clear access to deliver your oil safely.

Polite plea to reduce speed
I would like to put out a plea to all drivers in the village to reduce their speed, especially now the summer has started.Like other grandparents, I shall be looking after my grandchildren occasionally over the summer holiday period. Whilst most drivers are very considerate, some drive at an irresponsible speed.
As DCC hasn’t accepted the village’s request for a 20 m/h zone, there’s nothing to stop us from adopting this on a voluntary basis.

Electric 2 Oven AGA Cooker 30 Amp for sale:
Economical as runs off cheaper electricity overnight
£500 or nearest offer.
Used, but good condition, and has a new circulation fan installed. However, it needs a new controller ( printed circuit board ).
Collection only ( phone to discuss ) from Parwich, Ashbourne
Much loved, extremely useful and economical. This Aga runs off cheap ‘economy 7’ electricity overnight, storing the heat internally. Latest (model 3).
Fabulous to cook with and great for putting background warmth into the kitchen. Useful drying aid for clothes and foot ware.
This Aga unfortunately has to go to make way for a kitchen reorganisation, and will be sorely missed.

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Just a quick update on this weekend’s orders. As tensions in the gulf escalated on Friday evening, I suspect oil prices will rise on Monday morning. As our rates were secured on Friday afternoon before the events took place, we may find suppliers will close their orders on the dot on Monday morning. Therefore if you do wish to order please do so soon and ensure payment is made.

Two lovely games of bowls this week, both at home on the Parson’s Croft green. The weather was perfect and the bowls almost as good.
We started off on Tuesday evening with a convincing win over Whitworth Park: well 3 of our pairs were worthy of that plaudit, the less said about Fran and Tony’s effort the better! Harry and Sue played brilliantly to win 21-3, final result being 72-52 in favour of Parwich.
Now we always say that every point counts when playing bowls and that was certainly true on Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, we were the team that needed that elusive extra point to at least tie the match as we lost to Chatsworth 108-109. It was a really close contest played with a lot of banter between the teams, an enjoyable afternoon was had by all. Liz and John were in a hurry as they had to be in Derby by late afternoon so they dispatched their opponents 21-2. I blame Tony for providing Chatsworth with the win as he allowed his opponent to score a point. A win of 15-1 was just not good enough, Tony! Harry and Edith also had good close wins and even though we won 5 games out of 9 we still lost the match.
This Sunday at 2pm we have a friendly at home against Hazlewood. Everyone is welcome to spectate or take part.

This week will be our final Friday Football before we take a break for the summer holidays.
During the summer the number turning up for football drop off significantly as people go on their holidays, also James, Charles and I need to recharge our batteries.
The children should be encouraged by their parents to continue to meet up every Friday and play a game between themselves without adult supervision.
We will start back on 6th September.
Many thanks
Jason
