We recently received an update from W3Z reporting new areas covered by their relays. Relays are up and running in Biggin and at Rivendale that may provide new broadband options for the western side of our area hopefully including Alsop Moor and possibly Upper Moor.
Also they are holding a public meeting in Bradbourne in January about possible cover to the east of our area which may impact on Ballidon and White Meadows. The meeting is at 6.30pm on Wednesday 11th January at Bradboune Church Hall.
If you have any questions you can get W3Z’s contact details from their website see their website here
Note, if you are getting downloads speeds of 2Mb/s or less via your landline you may be entitled to a grant from Digital Derbyshire towards the cost of alternative broadband sources.

New Year Resolution for All Dog Owners – pick up your poo!
For the third time in the past week I have picked up and binned other dogs’ faeces on the large cricket pitch when depositing my own dogs’ waste. I do this on behalf of all other good dog owners who would hate to see another place that dogs are banned from entering just because some people can’t be bothered. Maybe a bin can be placed on the field to make it more enticing to do the right thing?
Dogs are meant to be man’s best friend, but they are regulated more than any other pet in the country! We’ve already been told we can’t use the smaller playing field because it’s for children only, (despite seeing around seven kids play on there in two years.) I’d love it if dogs had a designated play area so we can all be responsible for looking after said area. Instead, I fear, I’ll see a notice on this blog to say dogs are no longer allowed on the cricket pitch either simply because of a handful of people. We are not perfect dog owners ourselves, our dogs are not perfect, but one thing we do do is make sure we pick up their do do’s!
So please, learn to steel your stomachs for this unpleasant task and think of the greater good.
Just a word of caution, the first icy patches of the season are starting to build in places between Bradbourne Mill and the Bentley Brook, also as go out of the village from Pits Lane. As the forecast is for a continued cold snap, they could get quite nasty.
With Christmas now less than a month away and suppliers busy, this may be our last chance to order with certain delivery prior to Christmas. Please order early and allow plenty of time for delivery to avoid disappointment and high rates.

People can have their say on future planning policies in the Peak District National Park as part of a new consultation.
The Development Management Policies document forms part of the Local Plan for the UK’s first and original National Park and will guide all important decisions on the use of land and buildings including locally needed affordable housing, business and community facilities and conserving the distinctive character of the area.
The consultation began on 18 November and runs until 27 January 2017. It is the last formal stage to make representations and the focus of comments should be on the soundness of the plan and the process.
Parwich First Responders spent the weekend re-training and qualifying to act as what is now called “First Person On Scene”. Current Responders were required to undertake this 2 day course in order to attain a new national standard.
As Chair of PFR I want to publicly thank our group for giving up yet another weekend in their busy lives. Everyone has already spent at least two weekends for initial training and we continue that commitment by practising skills every 2 months and going on the rota each week to provide emergency cover for Parwich and surrounding area.
So a HUGE “thank you and well done” to Martin, Ben, Ed, Patti and Helen. Thanks also go to Sally and Margaret who were unable to attend on Saturday but who hope to complete their new qualification at the next opportunity. The time you all give never fails to amaze me.
Even better is the fact that we are lucky to have two new recruits: Debbie and Angela qualified to respond with us. Congratulations on passing and welcome to the group!
Finally, just a reminder that in the event of any medical emergency the number to dial is 999. If a Responder is on duty and a call out is appropriate then the control desk will dispatch one of us.
For the ninth year in a row, Derbyshire Dales District Council is encouraging people to shop locally this Christmas by introducing free parking across the district from 1st December.
In a scheme designed to boost trade, it will be free to park in any District Council car park after 2pm throughout December.
The free parking initiative was introduced by the District Council in 2008 to help local residents and businesses during the economic recession.
The free parking from 2pm throughout December comes on top of residents’ parking concessions that allow local people to park free every day of the year up to 11am and after 4pm.
This means Dales residents have free parking for 21 hours each day over the festive period, which helps local people and local traders.
Free parking extends to midnight each day and motorists are reminded not to leave anything valuable in their vehicles as the lead up to Christmas can also be a choice time for thieves.
