In the review of part-night street lighting here at parwich.org there continues to be strong support, with, at the time of writing, 77% in favour of some form of part night lighting, the most popular option (30%) being to extend the scheme to all Parwich’s street lights.
However, so far, in the polls on individual lights only a few people have voted, making any conclusions difficult. This is surprising given the strength of feeling in the original polls last March, where the Creamery Lane lights in particular raised a very strong response.
You can still vote in all the current street light polls below:

(Note. There is currently some discrepancy with at least one of the recent replacement street lights which should be on only part night staying on all night. This is the case with Light 056373 at the opening of Church Walk between Hallcliffe Barn and Church Cottage. If you know of any other anomalies do add a comment to this post.)

Wendy and Joseph, who have recently taken over the Bentley Brook, have said that if enough people from Parwich go they will supply return transport within the cost of the ticket. New information panels have been installed to give stargazers a guide to the night sky over the Peak District National Park.
The Dark Sky panels, which will be changed seasonally, can be found close to Arbor Low stone circle and Minninglow burial mound, where the position of the stars seemed significant to our neolithic ancestors more than 4,000 years ago. To help people appreciate the relation of these special sites to the stars, the panels are positioned at nearby National Park car parks which are easily accessible and on clear nights provide good conditions for stargazing.
The car parks are both beside the High Peak Trail at:
• Parsley Hay, off the A515 near Hartington (nearest postcode SK17 0DG) • Minninglow, off the A515 at Pikehall (nearest postcode DE4 2PN). Continue Reading »
Everyone survived? Good. I bet those New Year resolutions are tumbling like wheat before the scythe.
Her Majesty the Queen broke with tradition after the Christmas service at Sandringham by declining to accept flowers from well wishers, including a ten year old boy who had traveled fifty miles with his parents. The reason being that One did not want to be late for One’s Xmas luncheon, as last year the vichyssoise was stone cold, when the Royals finally sat down to luncheon.
Father Christmas brought Prince Andrew a Royal Monopoly set, where one pays much more than the properties are worth, and with a golf club (St Andrews). Prince Edward got a Royal Marines Action Man set, but soon tired of them and back in the box they went. Prince Charles got a book of nursery rhymes to read to his seedlings at bedtime.

I am trying to find somewhere/one who can tailor a suit. It is quite a complex job and I am not sure if the `alterations` that Johnsons the cleaners do will be sufficient. Any top tips greatly appreciated.

What do you think? Though they do want to keep the clothing recycling bin:
Happy wet New Year! The past week seems to have been very wet, and the ground is certainly waterlogged. Looks like another low pressure system will be tracking to the north, bringing more rain later today (Sunday), but hopefully the coming week will not be quite as bad as last.
Placing it at the edge of your property on your green/recycling day collection (between 2 – 31 January). Trees should be no longer than 5 feet in length so it may be necessary to break/saw the tree into a manageable size. Please remove the decorations and plant pot.

It is now over 6 months since part night street lighting has been introduced to Parwich village, with almost 60% of our street lights being turned off between midnight and 5.30am. So it seems an opportune time to review the situation here on the Blog. Use the comments facility at the end of this post to share your experiences of part night lighting in the village.

In our previous polls in March 2013 there was strong support for the idea of some part night street lights in the village, what do you think now? Should the County Council backtrack on part night lighting or should it be extended?
Our previous polls indicated a split between the prime access route of Main Street (including Nether Green and Chestnut and Sycamore Cottages) and Shaw Lane, where people wanted some lights kept on all night, and the rest of the village where people wanted all the lights part night. Does this split still apply?
