The film I Swear is a British drama based on the true story of John Davidson, a Scottish teenager who was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at age 15 at a time when it was little known and misunderstood (It is thought that Mozart also had the condition).
The film follows John’s journey from being misunderstood in 1980s Scotland to becoming a passionate advocate for the condition as an adult. It explores how he navigates challenges, stigma, and misunderstanding, and finds his purpose in raising awareness and acceptance.
Featuring outstanding performances from Robert Aramayo, Peter Mullan, Shirley Henderson and Maxine Peake, I SWEAR is a frank, funny and touching story about the transformative power of friendship and community.
**Warning: Contains extreme profanity as part of the story of Tourette Syndrome.

Once again the village has raised a fantastic sum for the RBL Poppy Appeal.Led by Karen W and Liz E with a band of volunteers, £2,109.52 was banked yesterday.
Boxes and poppies were at the School, The Sycamore and the Royal British Legion Club.
Tim R covered miles on the door to door collection and sales and Roy M demonstrated his ladder prowess by putting up the street poppies.
A substantial donation was made by Tobe’s walking group to the fund.
Many thanks to everyone involved and for a fantastic turnout in Church for the Remembrance Day service.

This used Ibach upright piano from before 1900 comes in good working condition and includes a piano stool. With keys in original ebony and ivory, 2 brass pedals, and a vintage dark oak finish, this German-made instrument shows quality craftsmanship.
It was reconditioned in 1995 and has been regularly tuned and kept in good repair over the last 30 years. One key – top G – has been unable to be repaired but all others work with no sticking or delay. There are some minor scratches on the wooden casing.
The piano stool is also dark oak, with an upholstered hinged lid and storage for sheet music.
Sadly looking for a new home now the piano players in the family have moved away. Free to a good home and we will help with moving it locally.

Thanks to Richard T for this update.
O2 suggest there may be intermittent outages today as maintenance work is carried out (and yesterday).
Meanwhile, Derbyshire Dales MP John Whitby who has taken up the village cause after some 13 weeks of outage at the local mast has written to the Telecoms Minister for a meeting to discuss Parwich and other issues in his constituency with specific questions about the Government’s plans on mobile signal in rural areas.
These include:
- Whether the Department for Science Innovation and Tech would be willing to explore a requirement for mobile network providers to publish publicly an incident response plan for remote and rural areas which should include expected timescales, communication protocols with affected communities, and escalation mechanisms
- How the Department is working with Ofcom, to ensure that compensation mechanisms and remedial action for vulnerable residents in rural communities are adequate, clear to navigate, and enforced.
