Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
With the sustained cold weather and a forecast for the snow in some areas next week, suppliers are very busy and many are fully booked for the next few weeks. If you are low on oil and may run out this group order will not be suitable and I would recommend going direct to be on the safe side. Delivery times are subject to weather and supply conditions. Please do order early and allow plenty of time for delivery to avoid any problems.
If you like the rate, please do spread the word. By grouping our orders, we can also substantially reduce harmful diesel emissions, CO2 and damage and danger to our roads and villages.
We have secured a rate and our clubs group oil order terms for this weekend are as follows:
Rate: £0.4550 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

Parwich First Responders are continuing to recruit new members. Attached is some useful information about the role of a First Responder.
Who/What Are We?
Parwich First Responders have been providing emergency first aid cover to the village and surrounding areas for the past 12 years. First Responders are there to support life threatening conditions, including heart attack, asthma and loss of consciousness. They aim to maintain breathing and circulation until advanced life support is available.
We meet every 2 months in Parwich Memorial Hall to refresh our training in an informal and supportive atmosphere.
What Can You Do?
As a Responder you can offer as little or as much time as you like each week. Being on duty does not stop you getting on with normal activities providing you are around the village and in range of a phone.
Can Anyone Become a First Responder?
The training provided by East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) is thorough and gives you confidence to attend to and deal with a medical emergency such as a heart attack or breathing difficulties. You acquire good First Aid skills for your role of a First Responder . These skills you will find can be useful in everyday life.
Once you have received your training you are not expected to go out to calls on your own unless you choose to. Some of the experienced First Responders still choose to ‘buddy up’ with another First Responders for a duty period.
No previous experience is required you just need to be 18 years old but there is no upper age limit.
Please ring Sue 334 or Martin 529 if you are interested in becoming a First Responder or would to come to one of the informal training sessions to find out a bit more about the role.

We will be updating the Parwich.org Diary page early next week, so if you have any Alsop, Ballidon, Parwich or Pikehall events (March and April) that you want to go in the Diary in time to be included in the Peak Five Church Magazine’s March issue please send them in by Wednesday (21st of February).
Including our Diary in the Church magazine is important as it helps you reach some of those who are not on-line.
Please send Diary information to parwich@hotmail.co.uk or leave me a message on tel. 287.
Thank you, Peter

Tuesday February 13, 2018 by The Haughty Culturist
As the days start to get longer and memories of my winter cruise sail off into the distance my attention starts to turn towards the garden once again. With Mrs Monty perusing the seed catalogs I’ve for once got in first and have received my seed order before her!
Having underestimated the number of seed potatoes in a bag I find myself with a surplus of Anyas. Anya is an early variety of potato grown exclusively for Sainsbury’s supermarkets by Albert Bartlett. Also most of the seed packets have many times more seeds than I’ll ever have room for, even allowing for failures, so as usual I’ll likely be left with rows of potted up young plants and half used packets of seeds.
I’m sure many others will be in the same position so how about a seed and plant swop and exchange? First up would anybody like to try growing a few Anyas?
If you’re interested let me know. Also if anybody has surplus seeds/plants over the next few months drop me an email via parwich@hotmail.co.uk or add a comment to my latest post.
Happy Gardening
Monty

Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
With the forecast for another cold week ahead and snow in some areas, just a quick reminder to see if you have checked your oil level this week? A visual check is often worthwhile. During the winter months, I recommend ordering when you have around 6 to 7 weeks supply left in the tank. Deliveries are subject to weather and supply conditions so I urge you to order early and allow plenty of time for delivery to avoid any problems.
Please also note, due to a change in the legislation on credit cards, from the 13th January suppliers will no longer able to pass on the credit card fees they are charged by the card companies. Many are therefore advising they can only accept debit card payments.
We have secured a rate and our clubs group oil order terms for this weekend are as follows:
Rate: £0.4480 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])
