Please could you inform people of a big pothole in village on the pavement near the duck pond (opposite pub) it’s got much bigger since the snow and is giving way if you press near it! I have reported to Derbyshire County Council and asked them to action as soon as possible.

Horticultural Society Donations

Following the fantastic success of Open Gardens last year, the Horticultural Society was pleased to be able to donate £75 to the Bowls Club for a new wheelbarrow and £200 to the Over 60s. Around another £200 will be used to subsidise the Horticultural trips for this year. The Horticultural Society is pleased to give donations to local groups, the total amount available for donations being dependant upon the success of the Open Gardens for each year, and welcomes applications from local groups.

If you are not a member of the Horticultural Society but would like to join, subscriptions of £2 are due this month. Please contact the treasurer Liz Henbery on 302.

What is this bird?

bird

Is there someone in the village who knows what this bird is, I took poor photos of it 20 mins ago in our garden. Been through the books and struggling to identify it, thought initially it was a wagtail, but the markings are not quite right. It looks most like a Shore Lark, but if it is it must be lost!

Today’s Bins News

Waste & recycling plan for Saturday 24 January

Our crews will once again be working on Saturday this week to catch up on missed waste and recycling collections caused by this week’s adverse weather.

Snow meant we missed the vast majority of Wednesday’s scheduled collections (around 6,000 homes in total), so we need the extra day to catch up having tried also to keep on top of regular rounds.

If we haven’t yet collected your domestic (black sack/grey bin) waste, or your recycling (blue bags/blue bin) please leave out your containers and we will aim to be back tomorrow, subject to road conditions.

Please note also:

* Today’s usual Friday domestic (black sack/grey bin) collections have been completed to schedule.

* Tomorrow our domestic collection crews will focus on missed Wednesday rounds.

* Missed recycling collections are a mixture of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday scheduled rounds, and our aim is to complete the recycling catchup tomorrow, so please leave out bins/bags

As always, your patience and understanding is appreciated.
