Christmas Eve Jingle

There is a nationwide event on Christmas Eve at 6pm for people to stand on their doorsteps and ring bells for two minutes. It is part of a campaign to combat loneliness. More details can be found on Facebook and BBC website

We will be taking part so hopefully we will hear you ringing your bells as well.

No Green Bin collection over Christmas

Your Christmas ‘bubble’
Here’s what the Government’s new Covid Christmas restrictions mean if you live in a Tier 1, 2 or 3 area (Derbyshire Dales remains in Tier 3).

You may see a maximum of two other households (your ‘Christmas bubble’) on Christmas Day only, but you cannot see anyone from a Tier 4 area. Only form a bubble if you feel you absolutely need to.

Thank you Santa

Richard T has sent us a video of Santa on his trip around the village yesterday.

On behalf of the people of Parwich I would like to thank Santa and his extra special elves, Andrew, Jackie, Alan and Liz for making it happen. I feel it could become a new tradition?!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped out with the Elf Trail it was very popular and I’ve received some great feedback so thank you again for all the hard work you put in.

Finally on behalf of the Carnival and Recreation Committee I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Lucy M

For those struggling to see the video, here are two more photos with thanks to Nina M:

Church Today

Due to the worsening decision with COVID-19, although the Government allows worship to continue, it has been decided that it would be wise to cancel our 10am service in church.  We are very sorry and look forward to meeting up again soon.will

The 6pm service of Nine Lessons and Carols continue on Zoom.  If you would like to join that by computer, tablet, mobile or landline then please phone Rev Carollyn on 664132.

Santa’s on tour TODAY!!

Santa will be doing a slow driving tour around the village today (20th) from 5pm.

The tour will start at the Village Green following the route below. It is expected to return back to the Village Green around 5.35-5.45pm.

Please can you all stand outside your houses, adults with a Christmas drink (I’ve heard Santa is partial to the odd tipple!!) and children with bells – or anything which makes a noise (the louder the better!) To cheer him on and wish him a safe journey back to Lapland before he starts his major job on Christmas Eve.

Oil Price Up and Up

FBF25C80-2C22-4991-8A46-7C20D86EC212
Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

Oil prices continue to rise as increased demand from China and India sees them buying more oil than the previous month. Brent Crude is now over $52 a barrel. Delivery times are currently between 7 and 10 working days but are subject to weather and supply conditions.

Beat the January rush – Orders this weekend are most likely to be delivered after Christmas with the 10 working day deliveries being made by the 7th January, so please do order early if you require oil in January. As always in the winter months, supply is subject to weather and supply conditions. We hope there will not be any Brexit disruption but most of our fuel is imported so please order early.

However, if you are already very low or have run out, this group order will not be suitable.

Rate:  £0.3595 (pence per litre excluding vat [5% for Domestic use])

Church Tomorrow

There are two Parwich-related opportunities for worship tomorrow:

  • At 1000 in church there’s a candle/Christingle service where each person lights their own holding candle symbolising the light of Jesus and bringing hope to people living in darkness.  Due to social distancing, space in our church building is reduced so we may not be able to welcome everyone in. To avoid on-the-door disappointment, please telephone or email in advance to ensure there is a place for you in the building (contact details below).  CANCELLED in order to keep everyone safe
  • At 1800 we’re on Zoom for our local version of King’s College, Cambridge Nine Lessons & Carols.  Bring a candle and reduce other lights to increase the atmosphere!  As this service will be recorded, if you prefer your faces not to be recorded, please set up so that your candle is visible.  At 1730 bring your own tea/coffee & cake for a chat if you wish.  (Contact details below.)

The church is also open on Sundays 9am – dusk for private prayer

House Wanted to Rent

Can anyone help? Hopefully we will be starting building work on our house in Creamery Lane in late January/February. We need somewhere to live while this is going on, preferably in the village. Does anyone have or know of a house that we could rent for up to six months at the most. We need two bedrooms and it can be furnished or unfurnished. We promise not to throw wild parties or grow weed in the bathroom and we will look after it immaculately. If you could phone me on 07970 490010 that would be fantastic. Patti Beasley

Carols on your doorstep?!

Carols on your doorstep !

Listening to radio 4 this afternoon I heard that some places have arranged to sing carols on their doorsteps as a community. Some have been doing this every Thursday in December but I wondered if people showed an interest we could decide on one date together? Just a few socially distanced carols on our own doorsteps  to cheer us all up. What are peoples thoughts?

Elf Trail

Don’t forget you can still complete the Elf Trail up until Sunday 20th December 🎅🎅🎄😍. If you don’t know the village too well you may want to leave out 9, 10 and 11 as they are quite a trek but you can still guess the words and get a treat 😉. You can walk straight from West View across in front of the Church to Church Cottage. If you are unsure just message me (lucywigley@googlemail.com). The pub shop is open to collect sheets 10.30am – 2.30pm Saturday and Sunday.

Happy hunting

Parwich Welfare Fund – can you help?

Parwich welfare fund is planning to make a recipe booklet to raise money for our village fund. Money raised will go towards helping people from our village who are in need, this could be anything from buying logs for someone or just a bunch of flowers when someone is poorly or feeling low.

In due course we will be asking village residents for their favourite tried and tested recipes! For now we are looking for a cost effective way to have the books printed as we need to make as much money for the fund as possible ( we will be selling them for approximately £5 each). It could be a stapled booklet or ring bound format, approx. 50 pages with a small image per recipe. If anyone has any contacts or knows of a reasonable printer then we would really appreciate your help. We have already tried instaprint on line, Derby university and Ashbourne business centre.

If you can help, please contact Lucy Burlinson at tigercheeks@hotmail.co.uk or 390 112.

Thank you 😊

Kingfisher back in the village

In the last few days, several people have spotted a kingfisher in the vicinity of the pond by the pub, and along the brook that runs behind The Fold….

Santa Update

The Elves have managed to find out Santa’s route around the Village. He is starting on Sunday (20th) at 5pm from the Village Green and will follow the route below….

Don’t forget to give him and the elves a Christmas cheer and wave.

PDNPA Survey

We have received this from the NationalPark Authority.

Can you help the Peak District National Park Authority to set policy for the future of the National Park?

Climate change. Nature recovery. Sustainable communities. Low carbon transport.

These are just a few of the big ticket challenges the National Park is facing. The planning process is vital in addressing such issues and works best when local authorities, local communities and developers work together creating effective partnerships to achieve positive outcomes. Planning matters, this is why when we produce plans and policies, we ask everyone to take part in the consultation.

We are currently reviewing the Peak District National Park Local Plan. It is a plan for the future development of the local area which we write and implement in close consultation with you. We use the planning policies we develop in the Local Plan to make decisions on the hundreds of planning applications we receive each year. To make the right decisions we need your help to decide what goes into the Local Plan and that will guide development in the National Park over the next 20 years.

Please complete the survey at https://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/planning/policies-and-guides/the-local-plan and find out more about the Local Plan review process, including timescales, background information and how to get involved.

Survey results will be published online. These will influence the next stage in the formal consultation, ‘Issues and Options’.

If you have any queries, please contact the policy team on policy@peakdistrict.gov.uk

Wheelchair Loan Wanted

0.5 day loan of a wheelchair?

My mother is waiting for a hip replacement and therefore limited in her mobility at this time,  I’d like to be able to take her into Chatsworth gardens to see the Christmas lights this year because she’s moving away in 2021.  Is anyone able to lend us a wheelchair for a weekday afternoon and evening (return can either be that evening or first thing the following morning)?

Thank you for considering this.

More Missing Parcels

We’ve had two parcels delivered but the location in the delivery photo is not our house! I wondered if anyone in the village had them delivered by mistake and we could pick them up? They were Bowflex dumbbells delivered by Hermes for Amazon. I’ve attached the delivery picture.

Church Today

Church meets today!

As Christmas trees appear and shops re-open to help us prepare for Christmas, the church also helps us prepare by marking Advent – the season of the four Sundays before Christmas Day.  Today’s the first Sunday and gathering on Zoom between 1730 and 1800.   Our service will include hymns (which you can sing loudly at home without anyone else hearing!).

  • 1730 bring your own tea/coffee & cake for a chat if you wish
  • 1800 service starts

Contact Rev Carollyn on revcarollyn@peakfive.org or 664132 or Andrew C on andrew@colliefamily.plus.com or 390684 for info on how to join in via computer, tablet and phone (including landline) and accessing the words.

Elf Trail

The Elves are starting to get super excited they have found enough helpers in the Village to do their Elf Trail. It will be available on here and from the pub from Saturday 12th – Sunday 20th December. Take your map, find all the cheeky Elves with their letters then claim your prize from the pub.

Any questions email our helper Lucy M – lucywigley@googlemail.com

Oil price Pushing Up

FBF25C80-2C22-4991-8A46-7C20D86EC212
Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club

Continued developments in the Covid-19 vaccine and expectations that OPEC+ will roll over the current cuts for a further three months from January 2021, have pushed Brent Crude past $48 a barrel this week, up $10 from a month ago. Delivery times are currently between 7 and 10 working days.

Have you checked your oil levels? With Christmas only 4 weeks away and oil prices now rising, we recommend doing a visual check of your oil tank. Prices in December are often much higher than normal due to increased demand for deliveries before Christmas. If you are already very low or have run out though, this group order will not be suitable.
