Richard Town posted the following on our Facebook page:

I was walking through your delightful village on Sunday 24th July en route to Tissington and mislaid my Panasonic Lumix camera. The last photograph I took was of a couple of calves in the open door barn in the first field on leaving the village for Tissington. I walked the route yesterday but did not find the camera. I wonder if anyone has found the camera. There are many photographs on the camera I would hate to lose and I am happy to reward the finder.

If you have any information you can either message him via Facebook (see his post https://www.facebook.com/parwich/posts/1085139101521293) or let the Blog Team know (parwich@hotmail.co.uk) and we will pass a message on.

Update, 27th July 2014: Camera Found

Thank you Richard for this update

Thank you for posting my missing camera report. I am pleased to say it has been discovered close to Tissington. It is badly damaged but I hope I may be able to recover the memory card. Best wishes to you all and thank you.

There appears to have been has been no official direct consultation of Town and Parish Councils.

We have been asked by a member Council to forward the link to the consultation to parish councils/meetings in the Bakewell area in order that they could have an opportunity to comment.

The link is as follows: http://www.joinedupcare.org.uk/

Once you reach this page you will be able to read about the proposals and click on a further link that will allow you to express your views through and on-line form if you wish. PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB

Apologies to our army of supporters who were expecting us to play Youlgrave this week, but yours truly jumped a week on the fixture list. However, those eagle eyed Blog peeps spotted my deliberate error and corrected it. Clever people aren’t they?

Matlock Tuesday League.
Away -19 July – 6.30pm – Bradwell.

Of late we cannot have any complaints about the weather; it has been glorious, shame about the bowls in the Tuesday League though. We were well and truly beaten by Bradwell. At the time of writing Bradwell were well and truly bottom of the league though the way they despatched us you would have thought the opposite. We only managed to win one game and thank goodness for that with Harry B and Rick M scoring 21 – 9. It would have been a major loss, but for those 21 points. John B and Clara E scrambled to 12, with Pat B and Sue A getting a further 11. In the final game we could only muster 8. The totals were Bradwell 72, Parwich 52. Still as I said the weather was glorious! We definitely play Youlgrave next week so we are still looking for a camel to stick under the green.

  • Next match – Home – Youlgrave – 26 July – 6.30pm.

Matlock Thursday League
Home – Wirksworth – 21 July – 1.45pm.

Having come a deserved cropper on Tuesday night we needed to ‘up our game’ as they say for this match. Again great weather and even better bowls. Rick M and Harry B carrying on where they left off on Tuesday won 21 – 1. What a start. Although our other pairs could not match this result they did play really well. Liz H and Sue A coming back from 9 -1 down to get us 16 valuable points. Ian J and Clara E did have a bit of an off day but still got 11. The score after doubles was 48 – 43 Parwich in the lead.

In the singles John H and Tony A led the way with 15 – 6 and 15 – 2 wins respectively. The remainder of our singles players managed to restrict their opponents to single figures, although we did lose one game. The total score in the singles was Parwich 82, Wirksworth 43. Final score 130 – 86 to Parwich. Still riding high in second place in the league.

  • Next match – Home – Matlock Park – 1.45 pm

Another good club event on Sunday, the square robin. Come and see what one looks like down at Parsons Croft at around 10.30 am.

John B.

DDDC Bins Survey

image

Your views welcome on whether we should charge for replacement waste & recycling containers

We would like to know whether you support the idea of being charged for replacement waste and recycling containers. Replacing damaged or lost bins currently costs Derbyshire Dales Council Tax payers around £28,000 a year.

We’re now asking for your views in an online survey that also asks whether or not we should end the annual free supply of black sacks and biodegradable garden waste sacks for households that can’t accommodate bins. Providing free sacks currently costs Council Tax payers more than £30,000 a year.

Find out more and go to the online survey

Problems with BT Broadband

Hollies Farm Garden

Thank You Parwich

The Horticultural Society would like to thank those who opened their gardens on 26 June and everyone in the village who supported the event. Open Gardens could not be the success it is without the support of the village. This year Open Gardens raised £1,490.35 gross. Expenses need to come off that figure but it will mean that once again the Horticultural Society will be able to help other groups in the village. Letters requesting funding should be sent to Lesley Goodman prior to the AGM on 4 November.

Thank you Andrew for these regular updates:

Latest on expected progress.

By the end of Friday all the old mesh and boarding will have been removed. New fencing will have been erected to the left and right of the run of fencing behind the pavilion.

The courts should be clear of fencing materials and waste by the end of Friday. The courts can be used over the weekend but there will be no fencing at the far end.

Please be warned that with the fencing down the courts appear to have gained popularity as a rabbit toilet.

The remaining run of fencing will be completed on Monday and Tuesday.

Please note there may be parking problems in Ashbourne today as a number of caravans moved onto the Shaw Croft Car Park last night. (See report on the Ashbourne Telegraph website.)

It is not known how long the situation will continue. Alternative parking includes the Market Place, the overflow field by the Fire Station, the Leisure Cetre car park, the ‘bus station’ and Sainsbury’s car park. Do let other readers know when this is resolved by adding a comment to this post.

Update – 12 midday Friday 15th July

Re. Traveller encampment, Shawcroft car park, Ashbourne

Derbyshire Dales District Council owns and operates this car park, and a spokesperson said:

We have visited the encampment, which appears to comprise a number of connected families all of whom are apparently Irish Travellers. While their representatives have informed us they intend to move on by Monday at the latest, we have in any case instigated an immediate court order process to remove them and in the meantime are constrained by the law. We will however be monitoring the site closely.
