Parish Council Nominations

Two nominations have been listed for nomination for Parwich Parish Council:

Michael Andrew Edge, 2 Gibbons Bank, Parwich

Without a quorate of 3 , it would appear that the number of nominations means that no parish council can be formed.

Well done to Mick and Phil for standing.

Delivery of Liners and Sacks

Delivery of food caddy liners & sacks

The annual delivery of free food caddy liners to properties across the Derbyshire Dales will start this coming Monday, 13 April. It should take about two weeks to deliver liners for your kitchen caddies to all 33,000 households across the Dales. Please note this delivery is undertaken by a dedicated team – not the usual bin emptying crews – so the delivery will not necessarily happen on your scheduled collection day.

If you still haven’t received your caddy liners by the end of April please email us at waste@derbyshiredales.gov.uk or contact our Waste Helpline on 01629 761122 before 31 May.

Caddy liners will not be delivered if requests are made after this date but will be available to buy from the Town Hall in Matlock, from our leisure centres in Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth and from Ashbourne TIC,  Bakewell Pet Supplies and Eyam Village Post Office.

** To help encourage you to compost more food waste, we are offering a BUY ONE GET ONE FREE OFFER on caddy liners bought from 13 April to the end of June – only from District Council reception desks.  Buy one roll for £2.50 and get an extra roll absolutely free!

Please note also: Properties that use black sacks for household waste collections (rather than grey household waste wheeled bins) will receive a free roll of 52 black sacks in the two weeks from 13 April.  The same applies to those of you who have subscribed to our compostable sacks scheme for garden waste – you will receive a roll of compostable sacks.

If you currently use black sacks for household waste and haven’t yet subscribed to our compostable sacks scheme for garden waste, please complete the online form at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/waste or call the Waste Helpline.

If you have not received your black sacks/compostable sacks by the end of April please contact the Waste Helpline before 31 May.  Sacks will not be delivered if requests are made after this date but compostable sacks will be available to buy from the Town Hall in Matlock and from our four leisure centres.

What a Start to the Season

PARWICH CROWN GREEN BOWLS CLUB

Only on very few occasions do things really come together as you would have hoped. The first week of the new bowls season and the sun is shining and to cap it all we won both matches and we have three new members. It can’t get much better than that can it? Suffice it to say it fetches a lump to your throat.

Matlock Tuesday bowls league.
Away – Bradwell – 7 April.

It really is a very picturesque green at Bradwell, but unfortunately somebody put the wrong sand on the green. A bit like British Rail with leaves on the line and virtually killed the grass. The only consolation was that it was the same for both teams. Anyway on the equivalent of the old Baseball Ground at Derby we took to the green. Dot H and Pat B were the stars of the show winning 21-6. Two of our other pairs came home winners by 21-11. The final score was Bradwell 49 Parwich 72. What about that?

  • Next match- Home- Matlock Bath- 14 April- 6.00pm

Matlock Thursday Friendly League.
Home – Hathersage- 9 April- 1.45pm.

So we had a real disaster in this league last year, we got promoted to the higher division! It’s bad enough having to play in the lower divisions, but playing with the elite. Anyway fortunately John H our green keeper extraordinaire had put the correct sand on our green and it looked great. A beautiful emerald green. The bowls played by us was fairly good also. Dot H staring again in the doubles with John B winning 21-10. Dennis and Clara E losing by only one point 20-21, giving us a score of Parwich 49 Hathersage 52 after the doubles.

As followers of this wonderful editorial will know we usually do quite well in the singles games, but in the higher division? In the six singles games Pat B shone again and so did Val K both winning 15-10. Tony A also played well to win 15-12. The result was in doubt right up until the final singles finished with our captain John H winning 15-13. In all we won five of the six games giving us a score of 80-74 and an overall score of Parwich 129, Hathersage 126. Can’t be bad.

  • Next match – Away – Youlgrave- 16 April – 1.45pm.

John B.

Decapitated Hen

I found a decapitated hen this morning. It isn’t one of mine so presumably a fox has carried it this far. Two people in Parwich have had recent problems with a fox in their hens so be extra vigilant at the moment if you keep poultry..

Parwich Parish Council would like to advise about the forthcoming parish council elections in May 2015.

The nomination pack and set of forms are now available to view and download from Derbyshire Dales District Council’s site:
