Roaming Dogs

This morning my partner was confronted in our garden by two dogs, both without collars or identification, the dogs could be described as being a Rottweiler dog and the other was a white Staffordshire bull terrier.

These two dogs are wandering around the village unattended, so please be minded if your children are out at play.  Does anyone know who these dogs belong too?

Parwich Telephone Directory

With people having options other than BT as a call provider it can sometimes be quite difficult to find the number of the person you want to contact in the village. I have been thinking for sometime about creating a Parwich Telephone Directory, not to be shared on parwich.org but for individuals to have as a hard copy. Does anyone else think this would be useful? I am looking for a winter project…………………………..!!

Bob Matthews Quiz a great success

imageThe Horticultural Society asked that we thank everyone that made this year’s Quiz such a success, particularly the Matthews family for their on going support, but also Bill for setting the quiz and Janet for hosting the event.

The new Trophy is pictured to the right, and it will be permanently housed in the Pub so that it does not get chance to hide itself this year

With ten teams the pub was full and a good time was had by all. The winning team was the Khaki Campbells.

Thank you!

I think last night’s Harvest Festival ‘Auction of Produce’ at the Legion was quite possibly the best one yet, and we raised
£500
for the Parwich Independent Welfare Fund!!!

So, a huge thank you to everyone who supported and participated, in particular:

  • all of those who very generously , cooked, baked, brought in produce, made up hampers and donated their time and money;
  • Evie for the very generous donation of her lovely painting;
  • Judith for stepping in with the reading;
  • Paul C for hosting the evening and running the auction;
  • everyone who bought produce (of course!); and
  • everyone who attended and made it such a good evening.

Hope I’ve not forgotten anyone – if so it is definitely not intentional……!

Many thanks once more,
Emma (on behalf of the Parwich Independent Welfare Fund)

Paul B’s Weedkiller Weekly #93

Hello Harvest Mice,

The Churchillian wartime spirit was alive and well recently, as an emergency NOBRA committee meeting was called at the Legion, to discuss emergency measures in the event of a prolonged drought. Dr Emma S told the gathering, “There may well be dark days ahead; the taps have run dry all over Parwich; and we may never see them running again in our lifetime“. Suddenly, as it seemed that all was lost, Emma came up with the solution that had been staring everyone in the face, “We’ll drink wine”. Emma was born shoulder high through the village to rapturous applause. A major catastrophe had been averted. Well done that Lass.

A Canadian man has been charged with the illegally smuggling, trading and export of endangered turtles. He was caught with fifty of the creatures strapped to his body, after border agents suspicions were aroused because he was walking so slowly.

When James Lusted sat down in a Harvester Restaurant for a romantic meal with his fiancée, instead of receiving the expected menu, he was handed a colouring book and some crayons from the waitress. Nice touch, you may think, except for the fact James is a dwarf. Fortunately James and his 5′ 7” fiancée, Chloe, saw the funny side of things and there was no harm done. Continue Reading »

Our Weatherman in the Village says:

A big Atlantic low has been feeding warmer air across the country for the past few days resulting in unseasonably warm weather. This is likely to change during the week to more normal late October temperatures. The unsettled theme continues through the week with bands of rain being driven through by strong winds. Typical autumn conditions.

School Closed Day 2

The main has burst again and the vast majority of the village including school is without water. We have no other option in cases like this other than to close the school.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Caroline H messaged at 8am:

I spoke with the men from Severn Trent who are working on the burst pipe. There is no intention to turn the water off again today but the pressure will be much lower for the time being, while repairs are taking place.

School Closed today

Apparently Parwich School is closed today because the water is off. Earlier there was no mains water running in at least part of the Village. At present on the Green (8.45am) I have water but with very low pressure.

Please add comments if you have any updates.

Does any know what has happened to our water supply……?

I know it’s off at several house across the village but I don’t know if everyone is affected.

8.30 am update (of sorts) – Severn Trent don’t know what the problem is, they have had several calls from Parwich and are in the process of investigating.

 There is a website for incidents  – http://www.stwater.co.uk/households/live-updates/, currently showing disruption to supply in Parwich…..
The website was upadted at 8.30 am this morning and says

Customers in this area may experience a temporary loss of supply or low water pressure. A problem was reported on 16/10/2014 and we are currently working hard to resolve this as soon as possible. We aim to restore all supplies within 6 hours.
