Update for Bradbourne & Parwich Heating Oil Club
Just a quick update on this weekend’s orders. As tensions in the gulf escalated on Friday evening, I suspect oil prices will rise on Monday morning. As our rates were secured on Friday afternoon before the events took place, we may find suppliers will close their orders on the dot on Monday morning. Therefore if you do wish to order please do so soon and ensure payment is made.

TIP: Have you checked your tank level recently? It is a good idea to make a visual inspection, just to confirm your meter is working correctly. At the same time you can check the condition of your tank for any sags and cracks.

Two lovely games of bowls this week, both at home on the Parson’s Croft green. The weather was perfect and the bowls almost as good.
We started off on Tuesday evening with a convincing win over Whitworth Park: well 3 of our pairs were worthy of that plaudit, the less said about Fran and Tony’s effort the better! Harry and Sue played brilliantly to win 21-3, final result being 72-52 in favour of Parwich.
Now we always say that every point counts when playing bowls and that was certainly true on Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, we were the team that needed that elusive extra point to at least tie the match as we lost to Chatsworth 108-109. It was a really close contest played with a lot of banter between the teams, an enjoyable afternoon was had by all. Liz and John were in a hurry as they had to be in Derby by late afternoon so they dispatched their opponents 21-2. I blame Tony for providing Chatsworth with the win as he allowed his opponent to score a point. A win of 15-1 was just not good enough, Tony! Harry and Edith also had good close wins and even though we won 5 games out of 9 we still lost the match.
This Sunday at 2pm we have a friendly at home against Hazlewood. Everyone is welcome to spectate or take part.

This week will be our final Friday Football before we take a break for the summer holidays.
During the summer the number turning up for football drop off significantly as people go on their holidays, also James, Charles and I need to recharge our batteries.
The children should be encouraged by their parents to continue to meet up every Friday and play a game between themselves without adult supervision.
We will start back on 6th September.

We are travelling to the y-not festival on Friday 26th, Sat 27th and Sunday 28th July. There are 4 of us going at 1pm and returning at 11.30pm on all 3 days. We wondered if anyone in Parwich is going and wanted to share a minibus or if any of the young people in the village wanted some extra spending money for taking us!!

There are lots of plants for sale at Church Farm in Creamery Lane. Some are on the verge at the house gable, but also lots are along the back of the house. There are kitchen garden plants, wild flowers, herbaceous plants, climbers and shrubs. I have potted on tomato plants left over from Open Gardens so they just need to be put in a sunny spot and watered.
If no one is about just put what you think is a fair price in the tin under the pallet. Unfortunately sales have been much slower than last year, we have so far just raised £18.50 to be split between the Carnival & Rec Committee and the Horticulture Soc. (This time last year we had raised some £160. It may be people are not noticing the plants behind the house.)
Money from further sales will go to support the Parish Council garden off Pump Hill. Everything must go.

However, it does appear trade talks between the US and China could be the decisive factor in the oil price outlook this year with any agreement likely to send rates higher.
